Small primates with a big conservation story! 🐒
Cotton-top tamarins are one of the world's most endangered primates, found only in the tropical forests of northwestern Colombia. Their populations have declined dramatically due to habitat loss and the illegal pet trade, making conservation efforts more important than ever.
The David Traylor Zoo is proud to care for four Cotton-top Tamarins. By providing exceptional care, educating guests about their wild counterparts, and supporting the conservation mission shared by accredited zoos, we help raise awareness about the challenges these remarkable primates face.
Despite their small size, cotton-top tamarins play an important role in their ecosystem by dispersing seeds and helping maintain healthy forests. Protecting them also helps protect the many other plants and animals that share their habitat.
