Are my horses super fancy? No.
But are excellent teachers? Yes.

In fact, they are the kind of horse I hope my students end up with when they start horse shopping. Safe. Reliable. Tolerant. Teachers.

They are so good at their job, that I wish I could sell them off to my clients, but the reality is, then I couldn’t do my job. They are too good to part with 💗

Some came to me that way, some didn’t. Part of the fun of my job is creating these horses that riders can go enjoy.

Diagonal Balance …..if you know Shilo, you know how AWESOME she is.

She offered Rylee a stride of COLLECTION in the lope. Not manufactured collection of trying to put her head here or there and soften the mouth by see-sawing…but ACTUAL REAL COLLECTION. It was magical. I screamed. 😱 🤣

No, this is not a picture of her collecting at the lope , just a picture of one of the exercises we have been doing to work on diagonal balance.

A horse doesn't stop bracing because you taught him not to. He stops bracing when balance gives him a better answer.

We’ve been able to put a few rides on Koh, and he’s coming along nicely. On his first ride, his rider tried to be very clear about what she expected, and he tried to fight her a little on that.

Setting boundaries can be hard, following within boundaries can be even harder.

But he’s figuring it out. He is a trained horse, but we are treating it like a restart, just so he understands what is expected of him in the TVH program.

Babies first halter! No, we do not leave it on her in the pasture. It took a few sessions to build to this, but the goal is to teach her that we’re not just gonna chase her around to get things done. We can work together.

Interesting….

I love my lesson program and that will not change…but there’s another side to my program that has some cool things coming down the pipeline. About 6 years ago I had to learn how to rehab Seven and that sent me down a rabbit hole. It’s been an amazing journey and many of the horses that have come into my life have kept me pushing to learn more. Sometimes I wonder if I could have helped past horses, if I knew then, what I know now. Arlo for example….if I knew then, what I know now, about sleep deprivation and nerve impingements, I wonder if we would have had to put him down after all. As I continue to learn and play with horses, I can’t wait for the day I can open my program to outside rehab horses. Those horses and owners that are struggling with soundness, behavior, and training issues. Stay tuned…
