Bristlecone Animal Aid Rescue And Xpress BAARX is dedicated to helping the animals in need in White Pine County and surrounding areas.

BAARX is an animal rescue/welfare 501(c)3 non-profit, EIN: 88-1304931. Our main goal is to see an actual animal shelter built in White Pine County that will be able to house a variety of animals in need. BAARX currently fosters animals in need when we are able to (without a shelter, we are limited in the number of animals we can actually take in at this time), and we make sure that those animals receive the medical/vet care they need, are given age-appropriate vaccinations and are spayed/neutered (if old enough) prior to adoption. Any animals adopted through BAARX that are too young to be spayed/neutered/rabies vaccinated at the time of adoption will have those expenses covered by BAARX when they are old enough, (Terms apply). BAARX helps to network and transport Ely Animal Control animals to no-kill shelters when needed, as well as fosters animals for Ely Animal Control when they become over capacity. BAARX also has a pet food assistance program in which we supply people with pet food when they come across the occasional rough spot and need some temporary assistance to feed their pet(s). BAARX relies mainly on the generous donations that we receive from the public ~ without our supporters, we would NOT be able to do what we do!!

Financial pupdate for Tippy’s vet bill…. Her total bill for her 5 day hospital stay & care at Elko Vet Clinic, including the 20% nonprofit discount, came to $3222.73. Thanks to the generosity of our amazing BAARX community, we were able to raise $2501.00 for Tippy’s vet bill in just a couple of days, and I’ve had a couple people message me that they are mailing in a donation, so that amount will increase once we receive those donations!

Everyone here at BAARX is truly humbled and beyond grateful for the generous support we have received for Tippy, as we know that times are tight for everyone right now!! I always say it takes a community, and BAARX is so fortunate that YOU are our community!! 🩵🐾🩵

𝐓𝐡𝐞 𝐔𝐠𝐥𝐲 𝐓𝐫𝐮𝐭𝐡 𝐀𝐛𝐨𝐮𝐭 “𝐅𝐫𝐞𝐞” 𝐓𝐍𝐕𝐑

We hear it every week:
“Can someone come trap these cats?”
”𝗪𝗵𝘆 𝗱𝗼 𝗜 𝗵𝗮𝘃𝗲 𝘁𝗼 𝗽𝗮𝘆? 𝗧𝗵𝗲𝘀𝗲 𝗮𝗿𝗲𝗻’𝘁 𝗺𝘆 𝗰𝗮𝘁𝘀 𝗜 𝗷𝘂𝘀𝘁 𝗳𝗲𝗲𝗱 𝘁𝗵𝗲𝗺 𝗯𝗲𝗰𝗮𝘂𝘀𝗲 𝗜 𝗱𝗼𝗻’𝘁 𝘄𝗮𝗻𝘁 𝘁𝗵𝗲𝗺 𝘁𝗼 𝘀𝘁𝗮𝗿𝘃𝗲. ”

We understand.
Most people don’t realize what goes into TNVR they just think it should be “free” and that someone else can handle it.

But here’s the truth:
That “free” service you’re asking for?
𝗜𝘁’𝘀 𝗼𝗻𝗹𝘆 𝗳𝗿𝗲𝗲 𝘁𝗼 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗽𝗲𝗿𝘀𝗼𝗻 𝗮𝘀𝗸𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗻𝗲𝘃𝗲𝗿 𝘁𝗼 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗽𝗲𝗼𝗽𝗹𝗲 𝗱𝗼𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝘄𝗼𝗿𝗸.

Every trap, every can of food, every drop of gas costs someone. 𝙏𝙧𝙖𝙥𝙨, 𝙖𝙥𝙥𝙤𝙞𝙣𝙩𝙢𝙚𝙣𝙩 𝙛𝙚𝙚𝙨, 𝙘𝙖𝙥𝙨𝙩𝙖𝙧, 𝙙𝙚𝙬𝙤𝙧𝙢𝙚𝙧, 𝙩𝙪𝙣𝙖, 𝙘𝙖𝙩 𝙛𝙤𝙤𝙙, 𝙜𝙖𝙨, 𝙚𝙫𝙚𝙣 𝙥𝙪𝙥𝙥𝙮 𝙥𝙖𝙙𝙨 to line traps none of it appears out of thin air.

Each “free” TNVR job costs hundreds of dollars before we even count the 𝙝𝙤𝙪𝙧𝙨 𝙤𝙛 𝙙𝙧𝙞𝙫𝙞𝙣𝙜, 𝙛𝙚𝙚𝙙𝙞𝙣𝙜, 𝙘𝙡𝙚𝙖𝙣𝙞𝙣𝙜, 𝙩𝙧𝙖𝙥𝙥𝙞𝙣𝙜, 𝙖𝙣𝙙 𝙧𝙚𝙡𝙚𝙖𝙨𝙞𝙣𝙜.

And behind every “free” service are real people.
Volunteers washing soiled traps in their driveways.
Loading and unloading scared ferals before sunrise.
Skipping dinners and losing sleep to make sure those cats get trapped, fixed, vaccinated, and safely returned.

This isn’t a hobby it’s hard, messy, emotional, draining, real work.

“Free” doesn’t mean easy. It means someone else is paying the price.
Through their time.
Through their gas tank.
Through their weekend.
Through their heart.

So next time someone says, “𝗪𝗲𝗹𝗹, 𝘁𝗵𝗲𝘀𝗲 𝗮𝗿𝗲𝗻’𝘁 𝗺𝘆 𝗰𝗮𝘁𝘀,” 𝗿𝗲𝗺𝗲𝗺𝗯𝗲𝗿 𝘁𝗵𝗲𝘆 𝗮𝗿𝗲𝗻’𝘁 𝗼𝘂𝗿𝘀 𝗲𝗶𝘁𝗵𝗲𝗿. 𝗧𝗵𝗲𝘀𝗲 𝗰𝗮𝘁𝘀 𝗱𝗶𝗱𝗻’𝘁 𝗮𝘀𝗸 𝘁𝗼 𝗯𝗲 𝘁𝗵𝗲𝗿𝗲. Someone let it get to this point, and 𝗻𝗼𝘄 𝘄𝗲 𝗰𝗮𝗻 𝘄𝗼𝗿𝗸 𝘁𝗼𝗴𝗲𝘁𝗵𝗲𝗿 𝘁𝗼 𝗺𝗮𝗸𝗲 𝗶𝘁 𝗿𝗶𝗴𝗵𝘁.

If you can’t trap, donate 💰.
If you can’t donate, share 📣.
If you can’t share, educate 📖.

𝗕𝗲𝗰𝗮𝘂𝘀𝗲 𝗯𝗲𝗵𝗶𝗻𝗱 𝗲𝘃𝗲𝗿𝘆 “𝗳𝗿𝗲𝗲” 𝗧𝗡𝗩𝗥 𝗶𝘀 𝘀𝗼𝗺𝗲𝗼𝗻𝗲 𝗾𝘂𝗶𝗲𝘁𝗹𝘆 𝘀𝗽𝗲𝗻𝗱𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝘁𝗵𝗲𝗶𝗿 𝗼𝘄𝗻 𝘁𝗶𝗺𝗲, 𝗺𝗼𝗻𝗲𝘆, 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗵𝗲𝗮𝗿𝘁 𝘁𝗼 𝗺𝗮𝗸𝗲 𝘀𝘂𝗿𝗲 𝗰𝗮𝘁𝘀 𝗱𝗼𝗻’𝘁 𝗸𝗲𝗲𝗽 𝗺𝘂𝗹𝘁𝗶𝗽𝗹𝘆𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗶𝗻 𝘀𝗶𝗹𝗲𝗻𝗰𝗲.

Every cat matters. Every caretaker matters. Every dollar helps 🤟🏼🐈🪤.

Tippy’s kidney values are back to normal and she ate a little bit of chicken for the vet, so they released her! We’re on our way home with her now…. Troy is going to be SO HAPPY to see her!!!! He’s been lost without her. 😔
Tippy will be going back in two weeks to check her blood work again just to make sure everything is staying good.

THANK YOU to everyone who helped to get Tippy to where she is now, and for making her reunion with Troy possible!! You all ROCK!!!!

PUPDATE!! Tippy had surgery today and definitely had a pyometra, so the spay surgery was the only real option. She was still groggy from the anesthesia when they called me, but they said she did good and is resting well. They will run more blood tests tomorrow and check her kidney values to make sure the anesthesia didn’t upset them…. 🤞🤞 crossed that they are still in normal range! They will probably keep her for a couple more days to make sure she is stable, and then as long as all looks good she will be able to return to her BFF, Troy!! The support that BAARX has received for Tippy has been incredible, and a large chunk of her pending vet bill will now be covered by your kindness and generosity!! THANK YOU to everyone who donated, shared this post and sent well-wishes and love to Tippy - you all are THE BEST!!!! 💕🐾💕

BAARXis asking for the public’s help in a bigger way than we ever have before!!

On 7/18/26 BAARX took in two older dogs that were a bonded pair -Tippy the Terrier and Troy the Chihuahua. They have spent their entire lives together, and when their original owner passed away they were taken in by her brother and his girlfriend. Sadly, the girlfriend passed away in June/July, and then the boyfriend passed away a couple weeks later, leaving these two ownerless. There were no family members able to take them, so BAARX reached out and took them in. The GF’s daughter didn’t know much about them, but was under the impression that they were both fixed. Unfortunately, Tippy came into heat not long after coming to BAARX, so she had not been spayed.

On 8/3/26 Tippy became extremely lethargic, started vomiting and refused food…. Despite being 8-10 years old, she was still a typical spunky little terrier, so by midday when she was still not doing any better I suspected a possible pyometra (a deadly uterus infection) and we rushed her to Elko Veterinary Clinic. Dr. Perchetti confirmed that my suspicion of pyometra was likely correct, but the bigger immediate concern was that her kidney values were so high that they were literally off the charts! They started her on fluids immediately, and as of this morning her kidney values have come back down into normal range, so now they will move forward with spaying her today to get rid of the deadly pyometra, she will then need a few more days of hospitalization.

Tippy’s vet bill estimate is between $2795.00 and $3201.00 with the nonprofit discounts the EVC gives BAARX. Tippy deserves a chance to live, and her BFF, Troy, misses her terribly…. He just stares at me and whines and shakes.

Donations have been down this year - we know things are tight for everyone right now - but the work of BAARX still goes on. We are hoping that our amazing BAARX community will do what they can to help save Tippy’s life so that she can return to be her happy little self, and she and Troy can be reunited!! THANK YOU for your support!! 🩵🐾🩵

**EDITED TO NOTE** Apparently some people are having an issue with trying to make a donation through the BAARX Venmo ( ), and there is a FAKE BAARX Venmo ( - ) that was created about a year ago, complete without profile pic and all! Anyway, I am adding our Venmo QR code for those who want to use Venmo, and hopefully that will eliminate any issues!!

Meet Raven 🐾
Raven is a beautiful 2-year-old Shepherd mix looking for her forever family! She is spayed, fully vaccinated, potty trained, and already knows the commands sit and shake.

Raven can be a little shy when meeting new people, but she warms up quickly and becomes a loving, loyal companion. She enjoys playing with toys, gets along well with other dogs, and loves kids. She has never been around cats, so her compatibility with them is unknown.

Raven would do best in a home that can accommodate her energetic nature. She is known to jump a 4-foot fence and likes to dig, so she'll need a secure yard and an owner committed to keeping her safe and engaged. She is not good with livestock.

If you're looking for a smart, playful, and affectionate companion, Raven could be the perfect match!

To schedule a time to meet Raven, please call the shelter at (775) 623-6403 today. ❤️🐶
