August 2026 marked the 15th year of Summer Camp for Quail Canyon Kennels. Another great season was spent in South Dakota working bird dogs on wild sharp-tailed grouse, huns, and pheasants.
We’re sharing a few photos from this year’s camp that highlight the incredible South Dakota landscape and the bird dogs pointing wild birds.
For young dogs, Summer Camp provides an invaluable opportunity to develop experience and confidence in big country. Working from horseback, they learn to navigate the landscape, use their noses, handle wild birds, and gain the experience that can only come from time in the field.
For broke dogs, the focus is on refinement. We fine tune their ability to handle from horseback, reinforce commands, and address any corrections needed in their bird work.
