Apologies for the month late post. We had 5 riders and 4 horses attend the Halloween show at Rancho Murieta at the end of October. Giana and King Tut did very well and won Champion of the Medium Stirrup Division. Chelsea and S’mores placed in several classes and won Reserve Champion of the Medium Stirrup Division. Elise and Evelyn shared their horse Obi Wan Kenobi and Evelyn excelled and won Champion of Junior/Amateur Walk/Trot Division and Elise earned Reserve Champion in both the Crossbar Hunter Derby and the Crossbar Division. Juliette and Echo placed well in multiple classes such as a 2nd out of 14 in the Medium Stirrup 2’ class and earning 3rd in the Medium Stirup Division overall. The team also dressed as Formula 1 race cars and drivers and earned a well deserved Reserve Champion of their age group in the Costume class! Awesome job riders and horses! What a way to end the show season!

Week of 1/9 Update:

We are monitoring the weather— like all the barns in the area. It looks like we will be cancelling lessons again this week.

The ranch is hanging in there. Jack and Kim are monitoring the trees, fences, water lines to make sure things are running as smooth as they can for near 70 mph winds and a few inches of rain.

Thank you to our working students for taking care of the horses and playing the longest game of pick up sticks (branches). Shoutout to barn family Robert, Melissa, Brandy, and Joel for the chainsawing, fence checking, water pipe repairs, and all the other things we can’t fit in a post!

Sending more positive thoughts to our local barns and businesses. Stay safe!

We are cancelling lessons for the remainder of the week given the weather. Please check in on Tuesday, January 10th to see if we are back on!

Kim took 6 horses and 8 riders to the Loomis Basin Horseman’s Show on Saturday. All the horses were awesome, riders had great time and brought home a bunch of ribbons and prizes!!
*Chelsey and Latte won the hunter x-bar 17 & under, 2nd in 13 & under equitation flat and placed in the top of their other classes.
*Dianna and Echo won the hunter hack 2’ 17 & under and placed in the top of their other classes.
*Kylie and Echo won the 2’3 equitation over fences, won the 13 & under equitation flat and placed in the top of her other classes.
*Melissa and Finn competed in the 2’ and 2’3 jumping classes and was 3rd in the 2’3 equitation and placed in all her classes. They also did the fun egg n spoon class and held onto the egg for a 2nd place..
*Brandy rode Sampson around the show then Lloyd got on and he got 3rd in the 18 & over pleasure.
*Laura and Deven won both the 2’3 over fences and was 2nd in equitation 2’3. They won the 18 & over equitation flat and placed in the the top of their other classes.
**Walk trot pairs class- Dianna and Chelsey placed 2nd and Melissa and Sarah was 5th.
***The last class of the show was for the 1st place winners from the equitation flat classes and both Kylie and Laura qualified. The judge tested the riders from sitting trot to hand gallop and Laura and Deven came out on top and was presented with an LBHA 2022 embroidered halter.
Want to say a huge thank you to Loomis Basin Horseman’s Association for putting on a fantastic fun show. The volunteers were so nice and the prices were amazing from gift certificates, 1 # candy bars and assortment of horse brushes. We look forward to coming back next year.
