Animal Rescue New Orleans (ARNO) ARNO has found permanent, loving homes for over 13,000 orphaned companion animals since March, 2006. ARNO runs a volunteer-based, no-kill shelter.

Animal Rescue New Orleans (ARNO) is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit grassroots volunteer-based organization created and dedicated to the rescue and aid of abandoned and homeless animals in the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina in Louisiana and Mississippi, including responding to the immediate needs of those animals in need of medical care, or who have been neglected, abused and deprived of love. ARNO promotes

the foster, adoption, and reunion of pets with caretakers, as well as spaying/neutering of all companion animals.

Everest has grown into a wonderfully goofy boy– but he wasn't always like this!

🗻Everest and his sister were found abandoned in a cane field near Morgan City as young puppies. It took rescuers hours to finally catch them. Once they entered ARNO, they quickly realized they were now safe and turned into happy, spunky pups!

🗻Now 7 months old, Everest is ready to find a family! This Black Mouth Cur mix does wonderful with other dogs and kids, too!

🗻Everest is growing smarter, cuter, and sillier with each passing day! He is eager to share his love in a home! If you've been wondering if you need puppy love in your life, here is your sign!

If you’ve been thinking of volunteering, we’re the place to do it at! Spend your time walking dogs, socializing with cats, or helping with day to day chores!

ARNO is open 365 days a year from morning until night. Perfect for busy schedules! And do you need hours for school or community service? Get them done with us and have a blast doing it!

Gidget the 25 week old hound girl hopes to see you at the Dog Days of Summer Petsmart Adoption Event at 6851 Veterans in Metairie on Saturday June 6th from 12-4pm. Gidget will be there from 12-2 along with her brother Gizmo, little Perilla, 8 year old Sissy and Max the pom mix. More dogs will be there for the second shift. Darling lady Sweetsie is still in search of a home! 🏡

💝Only 8 years old, Sweetsie arrived to ARNO after her owner sadly passed away. She grew depressed in the shelter environment and soon went to foster. And she’s turned into a different cat!

💝Sweetsie happily greets you at the door after a long day out. But have no fear as this independent lady keeps herself busy while you are gone!

💝The way to her heart? Wand toys, chin scratches, and even bites of spinach!

💝Sweetsie is the cat for you if you only desire one cat. In return, she’ll provide you with double the love!
