🍂🐾 11 dogs, one beautiful fall evening, and a WHOLE lot of distractions!

Our latest BDDT Pack Walk was anything but a walk in the park! 😂 Between kids riding bikes, baseball games, joggers, other dogs, and SO many exciting smells, our 11 dogs and their owners had plenty to work through!

Walking nicely on leash is hard enough sometimes, but add another dog (or 10!) within sight, and things get a whole lot more challenging!

There was pulling, zigzagging, sniffing, exploring, and plenty of opportunities to practice making good choices. It wasn’t always easy, but everyone stuck with it and worked through the challenges together!

👏 Huge shoutout to all our owners for putting in the work! We hope everyone had a great time, and we wouldn’t blame anyone for icing their shoulders last night while enjoying a sweet treat! 😂💪🐕

🎓🐾 Congratulations to Walsh and Franklin, our newest Advanced Obedience graduates!

These two wrapped up class with a Pack Walk, putting their skills to work around plenty of other dogs, distractions, and new surroundings!

And the best part? Walsh and Franklin became friends! 🥹💙 If you know Franklin, you know making new friends isn’t always his favorite thing. 😂 So this friendship made graduation even sweeter!

🐾 Have dog supplies collecting dust? We’d love to give them a new purpose!

Ever buy your dog a brand-new bed just for them to choose the floor instead? 😂🐶

If you have gently used dog beds or training equipment your pup no longer needs, we’d love to put them to good use at BDDT!

🐾 We’re currently looking for:

* Dog beds (Med and Large)
* Raised beds
* Mini A-frame
* Weave poles
* Half-ball balance trainers
* Cones & jumps
* Bicycle (adult size)
* Skateboard
* Scooter

💙 Donations should be clean, gently used, in good working condition, and free of major damage or safety concerns. They don’t have to be brand new, just safe and ready for another pup to enjoy!

Intermediate Obedience

Thanksgiving is coming… how are those manners looking? 👀🦃

More people in the house, food within reach, doors opening, extra excitement and a whole lot more distractions can put your dog’s training to the test.

Intermediate Obedience takes the skills your dog learned in Basic and starts asking for more. More focus, more reliability and better responses when distractions are part of the picture.

It’s a great next step for teams who have the foundation and are ready to keep building before the holiday chaos arrives. 🐾

🔔 Training Tip Tuesday: Put That Doorbell to Work

DING D**G! 🔔🐶 And your dog is already halfway to the front door. 😂

Instead of letting the doorbell become the starting bell for chaos, turn it into a cue to go to Place.

Start practicing before you have an actual visitor. Play your doorbell sound quietly = cue Place = reward. Repeat until your dog starts connecting the sound of the bell with heading to their spot. Gradually work up to the real doorbell and more realistic situations.

This can be especially helpful with Halloween coming up and trick-or-treaters potentially ringing the bell over and over. 🎃🍬

Practice now so ding d**g = go to Place, instead of ding d**g = EVERYBODY PANIC! 😂

Puppy socialization is about a whole lot more than letting puppies loose and hoping everyone becomes best friends. 😂

At Puppy Social Hour, puppies get opportunities to play, explore and interact while our trainers help owners learn what they’re seeing along the way. We take breaks, watch body language, talk about appropriate play and help puppies practice being around other dogs in a positive, supervised environment.

And with plenty of dates coming up, you don’t have to stop at just one! 🥰
