Anyone I know looking for a LSGD?

This is Tank. He is a 3.5 year old neutered male GP. The original owner claimed he was GP/Irish wolfhound. Weather or not I believe that is a different story. He’s a big dog. Comes up to the middle of my rib cage. Around 100 pounds and he’s a bit skinny right now. Fresh groom and UTD on all vet care. He is currently in Stillwater with an elderly couple who got in over their heads when they took him in. He is very sweet. Loves kids, is good with other dogs, and has been around chickens with no issue. He has not been exposed to any other stock that I am aware of. He does bark off coyotes in the neighborhood and has alerted to birds flying over the neighbors house who has chickens and a small dog. He has all the right instincts to make a good LSGD. We just need to see how he does with stock that isn’t birds. Because of that, I’m not going to say he needs to go to a farm as I can’t guarantee he will work. But he would also make a nice dog for someone with LSGD experience.

As my 9-5 is coming into slow season, I am building a wait list for board and trains as well as private lessons.

If you are looking to work on basic obedience, house manners, competitive dog sports, or socialization, let me know! I have been training dogs for 11 years in a wide variety of venues. I am a balanced trainer and use tools as needed. Over the last two years, I have been causally taking client dogs for board and train to work on house manners and obedience. I currently work full time as a pet trainer for invisible fence. As we get closer to winter, my hours slow down. Last fall and winter, I made it through my waitlist in a few months.

I typically take dogs for 4-6 weeks at a time. My main foundation consists of crate training, place training, loose leash walking, dog and people social skills, and e collar training if wanted. I am flexible and can add in other things or will change my “course” depending on the dog. I am not taking any severe behavior issues at this time. I do also offer puppy raising services. If you have a busy winter planned or a couple trips but you also have a new family member in the mix, they can come live with me for a few weeks to a few months to work on the basics such as house training, crate training, puppy socialization, and other valuable skills they need as they come into adolescence.

I am looking to start adding dogs to my schedule in November and go through March. If you are interested in more details, please feel free to PM me.

**Cash has found a home**

We have a new member at our house!

Meet Cassius! A 9 week old unregistered black lab puppy. He is with me to find a new person after his first home didn’t work out. I just picked him up yesterday but so far, he’s been very easy going and level headed. He adjusted well to his kennel and has gotten along well with everyone including the cats. He likes to retrieve. The only background I have on him is his parents hunt upland and waterfowl. And I think he has potential to make a nice bird dog for someone! He will be available in the coming weeks with age appropriate vaccinations, a clean bill of health, and some puppy basic training.

This weekend my grow out puppy and I got to play show dog at the St. Paul RiverCentre

For those who are wondering, a grow out puppy is something where a breeder has a puppy they are interested in seeing how they grow up and mature or waiting to rehome as a started dog at an older age. Sometimes, they send those puppies with other people to make sure they get the individual attention they need. Flair is with me to do just that. Grow up, hunt, show, and just learn how to be a great family companion and hunting dog.

New service available!

In the coming weeks, I will have private lessons available Tuesday and Thursday during the week. Driving radius of 40 minutes or 30 miles of Ellsworth WI. These will be 60 minute sessions and are geared towards dogs that don’t necessarily need a full obedience work up but just polishing and improving behaviors at home. Space is limited. Clyde goes home today!

We spent the weekend at a show getting him out one last time. He handled it like a champ. Even in the heat, I couldn’t have asked him to be better behaved.

We will do his take home lesson this afternoon and he will be back home.

Clyde has started to move away from tasks on leash and I am reinforcing with the e collar as needed. I spent the past few days collar conditioning him and teaching him how to shut the pressure off.
He’s been a rockstar this past weekend with a last minute house sit and then he fell right back into his routine here! Tonight we worked on recall, place, and ignoring dogs who don’t care for another dogs attention. One more week with this guy and then he’s headed home!

Today is Clyde’s first birthday so we went on a trip to Hudson and visited Angel's Pet World to get him a birthday treat.

He was great in store and is starting to have wonderful handler focus!
