A message from Dr. Shulkin about his retirement:

It is with very bittersweet feelings that after 45 years of practicing veterinary medicine, 43 of which have been at Dunloggin, effective 20 Nov 2026, I am retiring. I know many of you are rolling your eyes saying “we’ve heard that before”; this time it is real. I’d like to thank the doctors I’ve had the pleasure of working with for lending me an ear or a helping hand when needed, the staff who has taken such great care of me, and the clients (many of which are multi-generational now), and the myriad of patients without whom I wouldn’t be here. All of you have shown me it was a wonderful choice as a profession and have made it immensely enjoyable.
Dunloggin was my home and all of you were my family.

I’d be remiss if I didn’t mention my own family. You have been the rock behind me and have allowed me to do what I did. I thank you and I love you for it. While it will be difficult that last day to leave, it is time.

I’m not one for goodbyes, so I will leave you all with “Thank You and See you later”

Everyone, take care,

Michael Shulkin, DVM

Please be aware our computers and phones are down and will probably remain so all day because it’s the weekend. Please email or leave a voicemail with any questions or concerns and someone will get back to you on Monday.
Thank you for your patience and understanding.

Good morning!

We hope everyone had a fabulous weekend.

Our Internet and thus our phones have decided they are not yet ready to return to work. We have contacted our IT company and they are working to resolve the problem.

In the meantime, if you would email any non-urgent requests to [email protected] and we will follow up as soon as we are able.

Thank you!

We wanted to let you know that we are currently transitioning to a computerized records system to better serve you and your pet(s). This new system will allow us to communicate more efficiently with other practices, improve access to patient information, and enhance care here at Dunloggin

As our staff becomes familiar with the new system and we make adjustments to our workflow, you will notice that our schedule is booking a little further out than usual. We appreciate your patience and understanding as our whole team works through this learning curve.

We are committed to making this transition as smoothly as possible and believe these improvements will ultimately allow us to provide you and your pet(s) with better, more efficient service.

Thank you,
Doctors and Staff of Dunloggin

To anyone coming into the hospital this morning:
There is a tree across the road on Frederick Rd east of the Library. The state police have Frederick Rd closed at Plumtree Rd. If you are coming from the west, you will need to adjust your route.

Happy July!!

We are open regular hours July 1-3. We will be CLOSED on July 4th. If your pet(s) needs any medications for the upcoming fireworks weekend, please give us a call.

As a reminder - please keep your pets inside during fireworks. July 4th is one of the most likely days of the year for a pet to go missing.

Keep a watch for those potential food dangers - grapes, raisins, chocolate, products with xylitol (also called birch sugar) in them, garlic, onions, alcohol, caffeine, etc. (not an all inclusive list)
These are/can be TOXIC to your dog.
ASPCA Pet Poison Hotline - 888-426-4435
Pet Poison Helpline - 855-764-7661

Other people foods may cause vomiting and diarrhea, please keep a watch on them.

This weekend is also slated to be very hot. The safest place for your pet is inside in the air-conditioning. Temps above 80 are a high risk of overheating your dog, above 90 it is a MAJOR risk for heatstroke. Not to mention surface temperatures will be well above 100 degrees.

If your dog needs to be walked, do so early in the morning and late at night. Very brief periods outside for potty breaks during the day as necessary are ok.

As always, we thank you for your business and truly hope you have a safe, wonderful, Happy Independence Day!!
