I think as a breeder with all that's on social media it is easy to feel like you are behind. No I don't have babies that have sold for 100k or have thousands in earnings to their name.
But what I do have is the first filly that was born on our Ranch, that is now a 3 year old mare. A mare I caught after 3 weeks off, that I saddled, bridled, and threw a leg over without lounging or any funny business and walked off like she has years under her belt. Did everything I asked and after I was done still hung out with me in the barn while I did chores. And she might only be 3 but there are not many horses out there that I trust more than her to take care of me and have a great attitude all day, every single day.
The definition of making it as a breeding program to me is safe and sane horses that I can trust to do whatever I ask, and today's ride was a reminder that we are not behind and we are blessed to be able to do this.
