This year, we are honored to welcome Dr. Charlie Hatcher as our guest speaker:
Dr. Hatcher served as Tennessee’s 38th Commissioner of Agriculture from January 2019 until his retirement in October 2025, following appointment by Governor Bill Lee.
With over 20 years in veterinary practice and a decade as Tennessee’s State Veterinarian, Dr. Hatcher is recognized for his expertise in animal health and agricultural leadership. He has held national leadership roles, including Past President of the American Association of Bovine Practitioners, the National Assembly of State Animal Health Officials, the United States Animal Health Association, and the Southern Association of State Departments of Agriculture. He also chaired the National Association of State Departments of Agriculture’s Animal Agriculture Committee.
A fifth-generation Tennessee farmer and tenth-generation American farmer, Dr. Hatcher and his family operate the seventh-generation dairy farm in College Grove, Tennessee, established in 1847. The family’s enterprises include Hatcher Family Dairy, Rock-N-Country Veterinary Services, and Battle Mountain Farm, all recognized for leadership in dairy production and agritourism.
Hatcher Family Dairy, founded in 2007, distributes its products regionally. His daughter, Jennifer, manages Rock-N-Country Veterinary Services, and his son, Charles, oversees the dairy.
Dr. Hatcher holds a Doctor of Veterinary Medicine from the University of Tennessee, Knoxville, and a B.S. in Animal Science from Middle Tennessee State University. He has served on the University of Tennessee’s Board of Trustees and the Tennessee Board of Regents. Dr. Hatcher and his wife, Sharon, reside on the family farm with their children and grandchildren, who are all involved in the family’s agricultural operations.
Dr. Hatcher is currently a candidate for Congress in Tennessee’s 5th district.
