Hey, I’m Kayla.

Figured it was about time for a proper re-introduction since it’s been a while, and there are quite a few new faces around here.

I’m a mom to two incredible boys, a lover of all things western, and the hands behind High Desert Leather. If I’m not making something out of leather, you’ll probably find me outside, around horses, at the pool with my kids, or planning the next adventure with the love of my life and our little family we’ve brought together.

The last few years have changed me in more ways than I can count. I’ve learned that peace is worth protecting, healing isn’t always pretty, and starting over doesn’t mean starting from nothing. Every challenge has shaped who I am today, and honestly… I’m proud of the woman I’m becoming.

Around here you’ll find a little bit of everything—leatherwork, western life, the occasional sarcastic post, plenty of sunshine, and the real, unfiltered moments in between. I like keeping things honest. Life isn’t perfect, and I don’t pretend it is.

Whether you’ve been following for years or you’re brand new, thank you for being here. I truly appreciate every like, comment, message, and order. It means more than you probably realize.

The shop has been quiet for a while, but the dust is finally settling… and High Desert Leather is coming back.

After a long hiatus, I’m excited to say that my new tools and supplies should be here by next weekend. It’s been a journey getting back to this point, but I’m ready to put my heart back into every piece I create.

Thank you to everyone who has been patient, supportive, and stuck around while I found my way back. I can’t wait to share this new chapter with all of you. Here’s to fresh leather, new ideas, and a fresh start.
