⚖️ Today is National Pet Obesity Awareness Day! Extra pounds are easy to miss at home, and over time they can lead to joint problems and diabetes. Ideal body condition for most dogs is 4–5 on a 9-point scale.
Quick at-home check for your dog:
🦴 Ribs — felt easily with light pressure, with only a slight fat cover.
📐 Waist — visible behind the ribs when you look from above.
⬆️ Tummy tuck — the belly tucks up when you view your dog from the side.
Not sure? At every visit we'll weigh your pet, check body condition, and help you build a realistic plan — no judgment, just a healthier pet.
Call our office at (304) 636-7886 to book a weigh-in.

🔥 It's Fire Prevention Week — a good time to make a fire escape plan that includes every pet in your home. A few simple steps can make a real difference:
🐾 Put pets in your family's escape plan, and practice if you can.
🦮 Keep leashes and carriers by the door so you can grab them fast.
🪟 Put a pet rescue window cling on a front window so firefighters know how many pets are inside.
🏠 Know your pets' favorite hiding spots — under the bed or in a closet is where they often go when they're scared.
Questions about pet emergency readiness? Call our office at (304) 636-7886.

Today is World Rabies Day, and rabies is right here in Randolph County. 🦝

🔹 2 rabid animals confirmed in Randolph County so far in 2026, and 40 statewide.
🔹 In 2024, cats were WV's most common rabid animal.
🔹 Randolph County has had 2 rabid horses since 2000.

Rabies is almost always fatal, but it's 100% preventable. WV law requires dogs and cats to be vaccinated, and rabies is a core vaccine for every horse. Is yours due? Give us a call! 💉🐾🐴
