Our pet food pantry is critically low on both wet and dry dog food!

Donations of unopened bags or cans of dog food can be dropped off at our shelter Tuesday–Sunday from 12 PM to 6 PM.

Our pantry supports Elk Grove residents who need assistance feeding their pets, and your generosity truly makes a difference.

Community Resource Spotlight: Trap-Neuter-Release (TNR) Program

Did you know that Elk Grove Animal Services offers resources to help residents humanely manage community cats?

For Elk Grove residents, our Trap-Neuter-Release (TNR) program includes spay and neuter appointments and humane trap rentals—all part of our commitment to reducing overpopulation and improving the lives of free-roaming cats.

What is TNR?
TNR is a humane approach where community cats are safely trapped, spayed/neutered, and returned to their outdoor homes. This helps:
✔ Reduce unwanted litters
✔ Decrease nuisance behaviors
✔ Improve overall cat health

How we can help:
• Manual and automatic trap rentals
• FREE spay and neuter appointments
• Monthly FREE wet and dry food
• Access to our TNR Community Cat Group for guidance and best practices

If you’re caring for community cats or need help getting started, we’re here to support you every step of the way.

🌸🌷Let Ruby’s Spring Be a New Beginning 🌼🌸

My name is Ruby. I’m 3 years old, and I’ve been at the shelter since March 30, 2025—nearly a whole year… through no fault of my own.

I’ve watched seasons change, people come and go, and other dogs find their families. I’m still here—still waiting, still hoping my turn is coming.

Please don’t let me celebrate one year in a shelter.

Let’s celebrate my first day home instead.

I’m a professional lap finder, full of love, cuddles, and gentle reminders if you stop petting me too soon. Right now, I’m in foster care, just waiting for my person to find me.

🌷 This spring, be my fresh start.

📩 Contact the shelter to meet me: (916) 687-3042

Love,
Ruby (A058416)🌷

🐾 Hey there! I’m Big T! 🐾

I’m a 1-year-old Old English Sheepdog—85 lbs of pure fun! I love fetch, chew toys, swimming, running… basically anything that’s fun! I know sit, stay, and come, but I’m still learning to be a gentle giant.

I’d do great with the right furry friend who can keep up with my energy. Oh, and I love pets and belly rubs! ❤️

Think you could be my forever human? Come meet me at Elk Grove Animal Shelter!

Meet Evermore! He may look like he is playing hard to get, but really he is just a bashful gentleman waiting for his big moment. At 2 years old, this handsome guy is discovering that cheek and face rubs are actually the best thing ever. Once he decides you are his person, get ready. The more comfortable he gets, the chattier he becomes.

With a little patience and a lot of love, Evermore will blossom into the sweetest companion. A proud “standard issue” heartthrob, he never says no to a Churu treat and firmly believes every home should include at least one soft, luxurious lounging spot, preferably in a sunny window.

Think you might be his person?

Come meet him Tuesday through Sunday from 12:00 PM to 6:00 PM at the Elk Grove Animal Shelter and see if Evermore [A063544] steals your heart! 🐾
