Continuing with RVT Appreciation week, we are highlighting one of our RVT's, Alea! 2027 will mark 20 years of Alea being in the field of Vet med, and 10 years as an RVT. Alea has been with VCA Elk Grove for 4 years and with VCA as a company for approximately 15 years. She started off as a pet care attendant, worked her way to becoming a vet assistant, then became an RVT. Alea has worked in many departments within a clinic such as; a surgical tech, a dentistry tech and her current position as a pharmacy tech. Growing up Alea was the kid that would bring home strays and knew at a young age she wanted to be involved with animals. Dentistry has always been her passion and will always have a place in her heart❀️. Her main focus now is to share her knowledge and skills to help strengthen those around her.πŸ‘©β€πŸ«

Continuing with RVT Appreciation week, we are highlighting one of our RVT's Jenny! Jenny got her certification at CRC and has been an RVT now for 1 and a half years and has been with VCA Elk Grove for the full duration of that time. Before coming to VCA Elk Grove , Jenny did an internship with exotic animals in Roseville. Jenny has always loved animals since she was little and has always wanted to help them, this led to her desire to work in vet medβ€οΈπŸ•πŸˆ. Jenny aspires to work more in the dental specialty part of vet med in her future. When Jenny isn't at work bringing laughter and joy to her coworkers, she is learning to play piano 🎹!

We are starting out our RVT appreciation week by highlighting one of our RVT's, Sami! Sami has been working in vet med as an RVT for 1 year now and has stayed with VCA Elk Grove during that year. She completed 2 years of RVT schooling at CRC after completing a 6-month internship at Grantline Veterinary Hospital. Sami has been surrounded by animals her entire life so deciding to care for animals as a career was an easy decision. Sami loves her job and could not imagine doing anything else 😍Sami's end goal is to be working in zoo medicine and experience working with all kinds of animals, but specifically with all the large cats 🐯. When Sami isn't at work bringing smiles and laughter to everyone around her, she is usually outdoors, hiking, camping, paddleboarding, or simply rotting on the beach reading sometimes 2 books at a time. πŸ–οΈπŸ•οΈπŸ“–

Every surgery starts long before the first incision. It starts with a veterinary technician who has spent years mastering their skills, anticipating needs, monitoring vitals, and showing up fully prepared for every patient who comes through the door.

Vet techs are the heart of every OR team, and their skill and dedication make a difference every single day. At some VCA specialty hospitals, we take surgical collaboration even further. Some of our teams include Certified Surgical Technologists (CSTs) β€” professionals who earned specialized degrees specifically to support surgeons in the OR.

The result? Less time under anesthesia. Better outcomes. And a team that truly works as one. πŸ’™

Because every patient is somebody's pet β€” and they deserve nothing less than the best.
