There is a lot of advice out there on what you should do when you bring home a new dog, but I wanted to highlight some of the things I wouldn’t do! Of course, there is nuance to everything, but as a rule of thumb, I would follow these for every dog.

Not only will avoiding these help your dog adjust well to your household, but also help set them up for success long-term, and create less opportunities for bad habits to be undone later.
