This is a post for potential puppy parents.

I am very sorry for any disappointment this causes, but we will not be breeding this fall.

I am not doing well after losing my Jojo, and Aurora is struggling badly with losing her brother as well.

In ethical breeding it is understood that you want your dogs is top physical and mental condition for such a labor of love. Neither of us are in this space as her next heat is imminent.

Again, I’m sorry for any disappointment. I do have to do right by my best girl though.

We have the lady version of Leonbergers 😍

Leonberger – a dimorphic breed

One of the important characteristics of the Leonberger is its clear sexual dimorphism. Males and females should look different — not only in size, but in build, head, coat and overall appearance.

A male should look unmistakably male, and a female unmistakably female, even from a distance.

This is a beautiful and important feature of our breed — and one we should make sure we don't lose. ❤️

Jojo, our cornerstone rescue puppy, has been unwell lately.

He has been in and out of the doctor for a couple of weeks now, and things aren’t getting any better.

Please keep our sweet boy in your thoughts at this time.

We have the cutest little friend visiting over the holiday!

Please understand the “who needs a leash?” was just words. Especially at this age. A leash is needed for outside. Reynera is still so little we don’t even let her potty off leash.

It is a sure fire way to jump start potty training in any case and she has not had a single accident since coming to visit us! Go little rock star!!

She is also picking up her obedience line-up and focus like the best little puppy.

I’m so thankful her parents have chosen RML for their furry family members over the years! It is such a joy to know them and love all of them!

Just a little update on Aurora!

She turned 5 on July 10 and had a check up with her doctor.

She was kept up on her vaccines and got a refill of her parasite preventive. She also had routine bloodwork. I’m happy to say all of that came out perfect.

She does need recertification through the OFA for her eyes, but I will do that at the end of the month. Certification only lasts 1 year so it’s best to do it as close to puppy time as comfortably possible.

As far as puppies go, she’s in prime condition for them and we are very excited!

Pinpointing heats isn’t always perfect. Aurora cycles every 7-10 months on average. I believe our window will be from October-December.

When her season starts she will see Dr. Coffman and Dr Hess with CVSG’s reproductive team for her final breeding health checks and tests. From there we do blood tests often, and will do a shipment for artificial insemination when bloodwork tells us to. AI usually takes place about 2 weeks after the start of a heat cycle.

If everything goes to plan, a few very special but currently unchosen people will be taking a sweet Rocky Mountain Leos puppy home in springtime.

Of course, I will keep everyone updated on happenings.

Aspen and Enzo are littermates from a different litter from Aurora’s Breeder. Savi and Denver are also liftermates from Aurora’s first litter.

They are all family!

We had a puppy meet-up yesterday, and one of our parents snapped this pic of me with my best girl, and 4 of her pups from her first litter.

It was wonderful to see them all together!
