Meet Rowen. A very special case for us❤️

At just 3 years old and 71 pounds, Rowen has already experienced more change than any dog should. When his owner had to move out of the country, Rowen was left behind with family. Unfortunately, that arrangement wasn't the right fit, and he found himself looking for a new beginning once again.

Rowen is a sweet boy who needs a patient, understanding home where he can finally feel safe and settled. Because of everything he's been through in a short amount of time, he would do best in a home without children and with someone willing to give him the time he needs to adjust and build trust.

Rowen has had a few interactions with other dogs and did pretty well with Chicken Little. If you already have a dog at home, we recommend a meet and greet to make sure everyone is a good match.

What Rowen needs most is someone willing to see past his recent hardships and give him the stability he's been missing. Could that someone be you?

Our June Adopt One, Get One cat and kitten promotion is happening now. For just $100, bring home two feline friends, both already spayed/neutered( or scheduled to be), microchipped, vaccinated, and ready for their forever homes.

The promotion is available at both the shelter and Petco .

Visit us Monday, Wednesday, or Friday from 12 PM to 5 PM, Tuesday and Thursday from 12 PM to 6 PM, or Saturday from 10 AM to 1 PM to meet your new best friends.

Sunday recap

This week, we took in 61 animals ( YES SIXTY ONE FOR THOSE IN THE BACK): 45 cats and 16 dogs.

Also last week, 22 cats /6 dogs found homes thanks to adoption, 4 dogs were reunited with their families, and 12 animals were transferred to our amazing sister shelter Portsmouth Humane to help us make room for the overwhelming number of cats and kittens continuing to arrive. That is 46 lives saved in one week.

Sadly, 8 cats crossed the rainbow bridge due to severe medical issues that could not be overcome.

Results like these do not happen by working "banker's hours." They happen because we come in early, stay late, answer calls, emails, texts, and messages, and continue caring for animals long after the public doors close.

Pasquotank County Animal Services has only been open since January. We are still growing, still building, and still responding to an overwhelming need in our community. We may not have every solution today, but we are working every day to make a difference for the animals who depend on us.

Two that came in we have not gotten photos of yet but please reach out. People have been known to pick up dogs from surrounding counties and take to the shelter they know instead of the one closest to where the dog lives.

We'll be at Petco, 117 Tanglewood Parkway, today from 10am-1pm with some of our adoptable friends, and the shelter will be open from 10 AM to 1 PM as well.

Don't forget our June Adopt One, Get One Cat Special. For $100, you'll get TWO cats that are already spayed/neutered, vaccinated, and microchipped.

Meanwhile, those "free kittens" online often come with hundreds of dollars in vet expenses down the road and contribute to the growing stray and feral cat population when they're not altered.

We're not saying our cats are a better deal...
