Colonial Canine LLC Welcome to Colonial Canine! We don’t just watch dogs. We help make them better. 🐶💅 Colonial Canine started in Chesapeake, VA in 2017.

We’re proud to offer structured doggie daycare, comfortable boarding, and results-driven behavioral training designed to help dogs thrive. As we began to grow and expand, we noticed a demand for better care for dogs who may be a little harder to handle or may need a different approach. We began taking dogs who were unable to go to more traditional boarding facilities. In 2021 Colonial Canine moved

to a larger facility in Elizabeth City, N.C. and we are grateful to have been welcomed with open arms. Cassie has been working with dogs for over 12 years, beginning with rescue and working with a professional trainer in Alaska. Amanda has worked with dogs for 20 years including working with breeders, working dogs, rescues and trainers. We are a very dedicated team who want to help dogs and their owners learn to work together to become successful.

Our holiday boarders kicked off Labor Day with the most important meal of the day — BREAKFAST! 🥓🍳🐶 Because if there’s one thing we know, it’s that a day of fun starts with full bellies and happy tails! 😋💜

But breakfast is just the beginning! 👀✨

Our crew has a FUN-FILLED DAY planned, complete with lots of yummy freezie treats 🧊🍦, enrichment activities 🧩🐾, playtime, and plenty of extra love and attention to make our holiday boarders feel extra special!

Another hot day today. We did a lot of “in and out” today to help keep cool. Outside for short bursts of play in the pools and then inside for small group playtime in the AC.

It is with very heavy hearts that we share the passing of one of our beloved former daycare parents, Miss Alva, who passed away in May 2026.

Miss Alva moved earlier this year to be closer to her family, and we only recently learned of her passing. She was a treasured part of our Colonial Canine family, and we will always remember the love she had for her sweet pups, Muffin and Reese.

Our hearts go out to everyone who knew and loved Miss Alva. We are sending all of our love, prayers, and deepest condolences to her family—and, of course, to Muffin and Reese. She will be deeply missed and fondly remembered by all of us here at Colonial Canine. 🐾❤️
