On the LEFT is a poor attempt to correct hoof growth abnormality in a Brahman heifer. The first picture was take when the anaimal arrived to our facilities extremely lame. If you look close, you will notice that the outside toe on each hoof is actully off the ground. On the RIGHT is the proper application of a device to correct abnormal growth. This problem is due to rapid growth from improved genetics and not poor genetics causing irregular growth!

“It’s Anaplasmosis season. Beware y’all, it is going around. This one was close to being over the edge thus the blood transfusion. Do what you gotta do! Keep an eye out for signs such as rapid breathing, depressed, hollow bellied and shaded up.” - Dr. W

“Hawk” the goat came in with a urinary blockage that the owner caught right away! These can be extremely painful and sometimes fatal if not treated in a timely manner. You can see in the picture below the large stone that caused the obstruction. Dr. Warner and our team were able to get this removed and have our patient on the mend. Our vet students were even able to assist Dr. Warner and gain a better understanding of how to properly ultrasound the bladder.

Urinary blockage is very common in castrated male goats. Prevention can be easily managed through diet. If you notice signs of straining to urinate, not peeing and/or dribbling urine or blood, lethargy, vocal, grinding teeth, loss of appetite, or staying away from the herd, give your vet call!
