This week is full of opportunities for animal lovers!

If you’re hoping to get out of the house and play with some puppies, meet HSEP off-site this weekend at the Bel Air Fall Festival from 4 - 7 p.m. at 731 N. Yarbrough Dr. for a fun evening of local vendors, adoptable pets, and fall fun!

If you want to help shelter pets, like Lexi (the pup pictured here) RIGHT NOW from the comfort of home, you can make a huge impact on the homeless animals of El Paso with El Paso Giving Day!

One of the HUGE things that makes HSEP such a special shelter is our extensive medical program.

Being a nonprofit that is able to provide spay/neuter, microchips, vaccines, emergency care, regular medications, and more is such an outstanding feat that we are only capable of because to the immensely caring community around us. Funding for medical care for all HSEP residents comes directly from large fundraisers such as El Paso Giving Day, where every donation can be maximized by grants and matching funds!

Not many shelters are lucky to have a community supportive enough to sustain such an amazing program, and we hope that we can continue to count on your paw-some contributions to provide life-saving care to pets in need every single day. This two-bit pup is about to make your day!

Chances are that she already has, now that you've seen a picture of her. Meet Raven, a three-year-old Corgi mix who is determined to show you that, contrary to popular belief, short-legged dogs are more aerodynamic and run way faster than long-legged dogs. Her proof? Stop in and see her zoomies in person; that's proof enough. This happy-go-lucky lady is ready to make friends with everyone she meets, person and pup alike! While she loves to play, she is always gentle about first introductions and sure to show off her biggest smile! Raven has a super impressive submissive grin that she loves showing off to new folks, so that you know exactly how sweet she is - though she'll also wiggle-worm around at your feet at the same time to make her point. She's just a polite girl in that way and knows very well not to jump up, she also knows how to walk on a leash fairly well and shows signs of housetraining!

So stop in today to see Raven's zoomies in person! After she finishes wiggling around and showing off her pearly whites, that is!

Did you know that HSEP’s Foster Program is free?!

One of our lovely foster parents, Bella Lim dives deep into HSEP Foster Program.

From hands-on instructions and training, to puppy pads, to kitten formula, all HSEP asks of foster parents is time, patience, and lots of cuddles for shelter pets! Many baby animals that come into the Humane Society start in the foster department, as they grow big and strong for their Gotcha Day. Before they’re ready to head back to the kennels, underage puppies and kittens, as well as mamas in need, need a soft place to land away from the noise of the shelter during this sensitive period.

This Lilo is looking for her Stitch!

Or her Nani, more likely; she’s enough chaos on her own! This bite-sized, year-old Belgian Shepherd mix is 30 lbs of party time! Though she poops out much faster than you’d expect from such a young pup. After Lilo’s initial “Hi! Hi! Hello!” introductions, she’s a super well-behaved girly and a total people-pleaser! She walks well on a leash, and the moment treats come out, she’s ready to show you all of her tricks; Lilo’s a master of “sit”, “paw”, “stay”, “come”, “leave it”, and “down,” but more than happy to learn something new if you can find something she doesn’t know! This social butterfly loves other dogs and is extremely tolerant of pups with higher energy than her, but she enjoys coexisting (with occasional zoomies) the best! Lilo has experience living with other dogs, as well as small children, and she even goes home already house-trained and crate-trained.

Roxie’s zooming onto the scene!

This zoomie queen is Roxie, a one-year-old Doberman mix with energy to burn! Playtime is always go-go-go with this happy girl, but she’s more than ecstatic to put that spirit into a training session. This gal is highly motivated to learn, especially if you have treats, and already knows tricks like “sit” and “down”! While her tricks are impressive enough alone, her manners will blow you away - she’s an expert in the car, house-trained, crate-trained, and experienced living with young children and other dogs in an apartment setting. In short, she balances her boisterous demeanor out perfectly with princess-level Ps & Qs!

One HSEP program isn't often discussed on social media, but it affects El Pasoans every single day.

Did you know that the Humane Society of El Paso provides end-of-life services, including euthanasia, as well as cremation and disposal services? HSEP is able to offer an accessible, same-day option for end-of-life services and keep fees low due to the community's outstanding support. Your contribution means that HSEP can work hard to help pet parents when they need it most and keep the process as stress-free as possible.

It’s a sensitive subject for so many, so End-of-Life is a quieter piece of the shelter’s day-to-day. Many people don’t realize the outstanding impact of their donations on pet parents all over the city.
