Michael Angelo is a 1-year-old male beagle mix. Beagles, including mixes, are among the most popular dog breeds. They have an incredible sense of smell, plenty of stamina, and can make three distinct sounds: a standard bark, a yodel-like bay, and a howl. The Department of Homeland Security even uses beagles in airports to sniff out food in passengers’ luggage to help prevent the spread of foreign diseases and parasites. Fun fact: Charlie Brown’s beloved Snoopy is a beagle, and President Lyndon Johnson had three beagles named “Him,” “Her,” and “Edgar.”

With heavy hearts, the rescue community mourns the loss of a truly amazing foster mom to countless dogs. Kay Dolder passed away today after a long fight with lung cancer. A devoted basset hound lover, she opened her home to any basset in need of a temporary place to stay until they found their forever family. Kay’s kindness and dedication will be deeply missed by many.
