Remember this precious baby? His name is Ace, and almost two months ago a disturbing video showing him being physically abused was shared by FitFam El Paso, asking the community for help identifying the person responsible.
We’re happy to report that Ace is finally getting the justice he deserves, but his journey to safety didn’t happen overnight.
In the weeks that followed, we received numerous leads about the continued abuse involving the same individual and puppy. At first, the information wasn’t enough to identify the suspect or determine where the dog was being kept. But we didn’t stop.
Our Animal Protection Officers continued working the case, conducting surveillance and piecing together information until they were able to identify the suspect and find Ace, who was just 3-4 months old.
Once Ace was found, our team obtained a warrant to seize him and on September 24, with assistance from the El Paso Police Department, that warrant was executed.
Ace was removed from the situation and placed into our protective care. Then, on October 2, we appeared at the disposition hearing and were officially awarded custody of him.
Ace is now in a loving foster home as he awaits his freedom flight to our northern rescue partners where he’ll be safe, protected, and finally have a chance at the life he should have had from the beginning.
This case is a reminder that speaking up matters.
Investigations take time, patience, persistence and countless hours behind the scenes that the public never sees. But every tip matters. Every video matters. Every person who refuses to look the other way matters.

And to our Animal Protection Officers who refused to stop looking for Ace, thank you for fighting for him.
