🖤 National Black Dog Day 🖤

Did you know black dogs are often some of the hardest dogs to get adopted? They can spend longer in shelters and are too often overlooked simply because of the color of their coat.

But sometimes, the one being overlooked is exactly the one meant for you. 🥹🖤

I adopted this sweet girl, Coco, and I can’t imagine my life without her. She has brought so much love, personality, sass, and happiness into our home. She is proof that there is something incredibly special hiding behind that beautiful black coat.

So today, on National Black Dog Day, give the black dogs a second look. Visit your local shelter, meet the pup sitting quietly in the back, and don’t scroll past the little black face in the adoption photos.

This is one of the hardest posts I’ve ever had to write. 💔🐾

After exhausting every possible option to reopen, I’ve made the heartbreaking decision that MUTTZ Canine Social Club will not be reopening. I really tried. Between the economy, the challenges of our location and access, and the realities of operating the business, I could not find a sustainable path forward. And saying goodbye to MUTTZ breaks my heart.

MUTTZ was never just a dog park to me. It was a place where pups could be pups and their humans could find a community. We celebrated birthdays and gotcha days, hosted adoption events, danced at foam parties, raised money for rescues, and made friendships that outlasted any one visit. Some of you came through our doors as customers and even became friends. We built real relationships with rescue groups, vendors, and the local dog community, those relationships are what made MUTTZ so much more than a place.

To everyone who bought a day pass, became a member, brought your pup to play, supported a rescue event, or simply told someone about MUTTZ and to the employees AND family AND friends who believed in my crazy vision and helped me bring it to life. THANK YOU! You helped create something that was incredibly special to me, and I’ll always be grateful.

But I don’t believe the dream is dead. I think it just needs to look different. ❤️ I’m currently exploring ways to continue Double Dog Dare Bakery & Boutique, pop-ups, events, and collaborations with other pet-focused businesses. I still want to make your pups’ cakes and treats, dress them in ridiculously cute outfits, support our local rescues, and find ways to bring this community together. If you want to collab, host an event together, or just want to chat, please reach out. I’d love to hear from you.

So this is goodbye to MUTTZ Canine Social Club as we knew it, but I hope it isn’t goodbye to all of you.

It was special. You made it special. The pups made it special.

This chapter may be closing, but I’m not ready to close the book. The dream isn’t dead, we’re just finding a new way forward. 🐾❤️

🐾💛 To our members, two-legged friends, and four-legged family…

Beginning July 1st, MUTTZ Canine Social Club will be temporarily closing as we take some time to reset, evaluate our operations, and thoughtfully consider what the future looks like for MUTTZ.

This decision was not made lightly. Over the past few years, you’ve helped us build something truly special, a place where dogs could run free, friendships were formed, celebrations were shared, and a community was created around our love for our pups. 🐶💛 Sometimes, the best thing you can do for something you love is to pause, regroup, and take the time needed to determine the best path forward. That’s exactly what we’re doing.

During this time, we’ll be stepping back to reflect, reassess, and explore what comes next for MUTTZ and how we can continue to best serve our community moving forward. To every member, guest, partner, volunteer, and every dog that has crossed through our gates… thank you. Your support, loyalty, and memories mean more to us than you’ll ever know.

While we don’t have all the answers today, we wanted to be transparent and share that we’re taking this time intentionally. As we work through this process, we’ll provide updates when we have them. No matter what the future holds, we’re incredibly grateful for the community that has been built here and for every tail wag, every celebration, and every memory made together. 🐾
