Hidden Fox Farms says goodbye to a truly special horse, Hummer. ❤️🐴
For more than 20 years, Hummer was a steady, kind, dependable presence who touched the lives of so many riders. He was the definition of a true lesson horse — safe, patient, and trustworthy. He taught children and adults alike, took kids to horse shows, and gave countless riders the confidence to believe in themselves.
Hummer hardly needed guidance. He knew his job, and he did it with ease. He could perform all the riding skills asked of him and seemed to understand exactly what his rider needed. For a nervous beginner, he was reassurance. For a young rider heading into the show ring, he was confidence. For so many, he was the horse who helped them discover how much they loved riding.
And while Hummer took wonderful care of his riders, he also knew how to enjoy being a horse. He loved his turnouts and especially loved spending time with his best friends, Charger and BC. And, true to Hummer’s character, he always wanted to be the last one to come in.
For over two decades, Hummer was a constant. A teacher. A gentleman. A confidence-builder. A protector. And a friend.
Thank you, Hummer, for every lesson, every horse show, every ride, every moment of patience, and bit of confidence you gave your riders. Thank you for being exactly the horse you were. You will be deeply missed and never forgotten.
So many riders have a Hummer story. So many people are better riders — and perhaps a little more confident in life — because they had the privilege of knowing him. Please share your memories and photos of Hummer in the messages portion. ❤️
