When life gives you are pair of lemons…You count your blessings you received anything at all.
A very warm welcome to Tui (Sable male) and La (Tri female), LycorisXMenziesii. We had all sorts of hopes for this litter but it was just not meant to be. Our repro vet had originally told us it was a possibility that Lycoris may need a C section for any subsequent litter she had after her first. We went into this hoping it was a fluke and we would have a beautiful decent sized litter between the pair.
Well that did not happen, Lycoris went into labor and never progressed so another C section and spay occurred. Our vet found old scarring on her uterus that indicated she had some sort of infection possibly even before her first litter that likely caused her delivery and conception issues. She also had rather odd heats after her first two as a youngin. Regardless we are celebrating the fact that we at least have La to carry on her mother’s bloodline. She came into the world full of life and completely unaffected by the anesthesia and trying to bust out the womb from the inside. It was a wild thing to witness. We honestly are just celebrating the fact that mom and pups are doing splendidly because anytime you have something like this happen it could go very wrong. Obviously Lycoris is now retired and this firecracker of a girl will carry on in her pawprints! collies

Spoon versus Menziesii, their battle will be legendary! Anyone want to cast a vote as to who won this battle of wills? On a cool side note this is a good merle comparison photo. Menziesii is what is considered harlequin length merle. Spoon is actually a double merle. Oh dear me, I said the forbidden word. Spoon’s genetic breakdown for merle is m/MC/M. MC breeds like a non merle. So theoretically Spoon can produce complete non merle pups. Pups with MC which will appear and breed like a non merle and M which is regular length merle. There is also the possibility that she could pass on both MC and M onto one puppy. MC does not combine with M to produce more white however it does often cause a nearly solid dog with random small patches of ‘Merle’ expression such as what Spoon has on her forehead, shoulder, behind her ear and on a back leg. Very cool stuff if you’re a genetic enthusiast like ourselves! collies

A little toy fun and play with Lord’s sister Ziti who is over for boarding. These stinkers are hitting the very active and a little crazy stage. We have seen this happen several times now with the various pups we have raised where they get a little wild and obstinate around 10 weeks old and it typically lasts a couple weeks. Just like human babies they go through stages in their growth and development. Having this litter has been a joy and we missed having smoothie babes so much! Enjoy all our salty sweet followers! collies

Busy couple of days! Morris (aka Boolaroo) and Salagadoola went to their new families and are loving life and Kaki’s litter got a clear bill of health from the vet. Lots of new journeys will be starting soon!

Loveme is officially retired! Spayed yesterday and ready to kick up her heels and enjoy all of life’s comforts with us for the rest of her years. She has given us wonderful offspring to carry on her lineage, retirement is well deserved. Post surgery picture where she no doubt was still seeing pink elephants 😆

Post eye exam zoomies after their ophthalmologist visit yesterday. I just love how these babies go with the flow of everything. We only had one potty accident in the whole 5 hour trip!
