Pure greatness!

We have joined grind stones stables 4H and pony club ( more info on that soon)! And we are so excited!

4h is great learning experience and is for ALL ages and FREE to join! It’s about learning and education and riding all at the same time! We are also going to do a small animal portion to it!

📅 Meeting Time & Location
Meetings will begin at 7:00 PM unless otherwise announced and will alternate between GrindStone Stables and Rockin J. Before each meeting, we’ll send a message confirming the location and plans.

Each meeting will include club updates and a fun or educational activity. Some outings may require a different time or location.

🍕 Pizza at Meetings?
Since we’re meeting around dinnertime, would everyone be interested in chipping in for pizza at each meeting? Let us know what you think!

We currently have only three members officially signed up, plus Brian as a volunteer. To help us move forward with these activities, please complete your enrollment by our next meeting on November 13.

Dates and activities may change as we get closer, but this is our general plan! We’ll share details, times, and anything you’ll need to bring before each event.

I don’t have much videos or pictures from yesterday, but I wish I could relive it over again times a million, of course when you have a great day everything in the beginning tries to go wrong, thank you guys for being patient while we made some last minute adjustments! Thank you guys for believing in us and making places for these amazing creatures to run possible! We had so much fun and look forward to see everyone again in March!

🤠 We have boarding openings at Rockin’ J Ranch!

We have a huge 250x200 outdoor arena, a small arena, and a round pen!
Barrel and roping setups,
Lessons, training, coaching, hauling, rodeos and our traveling team.
You can also ride directly from our property onto local trails that can take you to Egg Harbor City Lake and other cool spots!

Horses receive 24/7 hay, grain twice a day, daily care and plenty of turnout.

We’re a busy, family-run barn and there’s normally always something going on around here!

We’d love to add a few more good people to the Rockin’ J family.

I’ve said it before on here and I’ll say it again

If you wanna be better at horses you have to ride more then once a week. And by riding , I mean warming up , and NOT doing the barrel pattern and NOT running. It’s gaining muscle memory, it’s WALKING circles, it’s feeling with your legs and your hips and not just holding on to the horses faces.

As you get more advanced, you don’t “run the pattern” everyday, but that doesn’t mean you can’t practice. 20 mins a day is all you and your horse really need.

If you lesson once a week/ that’s around 20 hours a YEAR you’re riding. No one can be good at something they do 20 hours a YEAR! even if you take 2 lessons a week, it’s still only 40 hours or so a year that your getting ride time in.

Football players practice 6-7 hours a week. Even if it’s a simple workout ( which us athletes don’t do enough). But that’s 3 times more than 1 hour a week.

Many trainers say it, and they aren’t wrong, you won’t ever go to the best in the world’s house and see them running around the place. You’ll see collections, side passing, slow circles, big circles.

Just because we wanna go fast all the time. Or we think our child needs to learn how to go fast. Doesn’t mean that’s what we do. Barrels and horses are so much then just going fast, it’s all about FEEL!!!!! And that’s something that’s not always given.

So with that, we’ve had many say “ I wanna get better at this” and what that I said “ you need more TIME in the saddle. Walk/ trotting / loping. And also group lessons!!! They teach so much, you can watch others, you make friends, and it’s more riding time!

We’ve seen our students grow and flourish in our leasing program as well! It’s great for those looking for more ride time!

We know this sport is expensive! But don’t bring yourself down until you can have more riding time! I promise you’ll feel better!

Wow!! What a weekend!

Thank you New Jersey High School Rodeo Association for everything you made possible this weekend for kids all along the east coast! Without associations like you kids wouldn’t be able to do what they love!!!

This sport is NOT easy, it’s hard work, dedication, commitment, mental,physical,emotional. It takes everything!!!! You’re gonna have good and bad days but just simply at the end of the day we have to remember that we get to do what we love with who we love and that’s all that matters!

It’s not about “ winning” everything or loosing, it’s about the fact that all of us have the ability to make this possible, and that right there is such a blessing!

Jake/ Koda / Rae / Danica / Sienna / Tate were so proud of all of you! Thank you for trusting us!

Also huge shout out to Wiskey ( QH in training Fromm the winter to run a 24 in poles and place 2nd in the preformance Saturday night! ) and our sweet THREE turning four year old Banshee for her 3rd race ever, keeping up with the other horses and acting like she’s done it a million times 💪
