🦮💙 Happy International Assistance Dog Day!
Today we celebrate the incredible dogs who help people live safer, more independent, and more fulfilling lives every single day.
Assistance dogs do far more than guide individuals with visual impairments. They may also:
🐾 Alert to seizures or changes in blood sugar.
🐾 Assist individuals with mobility challenges.
🐾 Retrieve dropped items or open doors.
🐾 Provide support to veterans and others living with disabilities.
🐾 Help their handlers safely navigate everyday life.
These amazing dogs spend years learning specialized skills, and when they’re working, they’re focused on keeping their handler safe.
❤️ A friendly reminder:
If you see an assistance dog in public, admire them from a distance. Please don’t pet, call to, or distract a working dog without first asking the handler. Even a brief distraction can interfere with an important task.
Today, let’s thank the remarkable dogs—and the dedicated trainers and handlers—who make such a meaningful difference every day.
