🐾 Who would be interested in a Senior Enrichment & Mobility Class led by me? 🐾

Even before Kannon’s cancer diagnosis, I began noticing signs of cognitive decline (doggy dementia), arthritis, and other age-related changes. My concerns about her overall health led me to dive deeper into senior canine wellness and research ways we, as pet owners, can help our dogs maintain their quality of life as they age.

One of the biggest things I’ve learned is that mental stimulation and physical activity are just as important for our senior dogs as they are for younger ones! Aging doesn’t mean our dogs have to stop learning, exploring, or enjoying new experiences. In fact, providing appropriate enrichment, gentle exercise, and mobility activities can help support their cognitive function, confidence, physical strength, and overall well-being.

I’d love to take what I’ve learned, along with my experience as a Registered Veterinary Technician, and create something meaningful for other senior dogs and their owners. ❤️

I’m considering offering Senior Enrichment & Mobility Classes where we can come together with our beloved gray-faced companions and participate in activities such as:

🐾 Gentle agility and obstacle courses

🧠 Brain games, puzzles, and scent work

🐕 Balance, coordination, and mobility exercises

❤️ Activities designed to support healthy aging and quality of life

My goal is to help owners better understand their aging pets while giving our senior dogs an opportunity to stay active, engaged, and happy for as long as possible.

Would this be something you’d be interested in attending with your senior dog?

Let me know in the comments! Classes would around an hour long, held outdoors in the closed yard at Kannon’s Kabins, and between $40-50. 🐾❤️

Nothing makes us happier than patients who love spooky season as much as we do! 👻🎃 She showed up for her vaccine updates in her Halloween best, and we couldn’t love it more! 🩷🐩

Rats are actually fascinating animals! 🐀

1. Rats laugh when they’re tickled! They produce ultrasonic chirps around 50 kHz that humans can’t hear without special equipment.
2. Rats are incredibly intelligent. They can learn tricks, solve puzzles, recognize patterns, and remember routes through mazes.
3. Rats are surprisingly clean animals. They spend a significant amount of time grooming themselves and their companions.
4. Rats can show empathy. Studies have found that rats will sometimes help free trapped companions, even when there’s no immediate reward.
5. Rats dream! Research suggests rats replay experiences in their brains while sleeping, similar to humans.
6. Their teeth never stop growing. Rats have continuously growing incisors, which is why chewing is so important.
7. Rats can recognize individual humans. They learn to distinguish familiar people through scent, sound, and interactions.
8. Rats have excellent memories. They can remember complex routes and locations long after learning them.
9. Rats are extremely social. They form relationships, groom one another, play together, and generally thrive with compatible rat companions.
10. Rats use their whiskers to navigate. Their whiskers are highly sensitive and help them investigate their surroundings, especially in the dark.
11. Rats can’t vomit. Their anatomy and nervous system prevent them from vomiting.
12. Rats can be trained to detect landmines and tuberculosis. African giant pouched rats, which are different from domestic pet rats, have been trained to detect explosives and identify tuberculosis samples.

Who else thinks rats are cute? 🙋‍♀️🐀💗
