We’re proud to welcome PTHA’s Turning For Home back as a sponsor of the 2026 Thoroughbred Makeover and National Symposium, presented by Thoroughbred Charities of America!

Since 2008, Turning for Home has helped Thoroughbreds retiring from Parx Racing transition into their next careers through rehabilitation, retraining and responsible placement. This October, their support will be seen throughout Makeover week, from the Turning for Home Double Warm-Up Arena and RRP Store bags to the PTHA Turning for Home Award.

We’re grateful to have their continued support as we celebrate what’s possible for Thoroughbreds after racing.

Please join us in thanking PTHA’s Turning for Home for its continued support of the Thoroughbred Makeover!

We have a soft spot for the -ber months. 🍂

September is here, which means we’re officially counting down the weeks until the 2026 Thoroughbred Makeover, presented by Thoroughbred Charities of America.

Soon, the Kentucky Horse Park will look a little more like this, and you don’t have to bring a horse to join us! Come cheer on the competitors, volunteer, shop the Vendor Fair, catch the action throughout the week, or stick around Friday for our Charity Polo Match.

Come for a day or make a week of it. We’d love to see you there!

We’re proud to have Keeneland supporting the 2026 Thoroughbred Makeover and National Symposium, presented by Thoroughbred Charities of America!

When this year’s discipline champions step into the awards presentation, they’ll be sporting championship coolers sponsored by Keeneland. Keeneland is also helping make Makeover week special for our competitors with race-day tickets and opportunities to experience morning works and the Sales Pavilion.

We’re grateful for Keeneland’s continued support of Thoroughbreds and the people behind them, both on the racetrack and beyond.

Please join us in thanking Keeneland for its support of the Thoroughbred Makeover!

A horse’s racing record can tell you where it’s been, but it can’t tell you everyone who was there with them.

Before Pepper J began preparing for the 2026 Thoroughbred Makeover, his racing career took him through two sales with different consignments and four starts at three different racetracks. At each stop, there were people who got to know him: the people who prepped him for the sales ring, cared for him in the barn, got on him in the mornings, and sent him to the races.

One of those people was Kristina Taylor. During Pepper J’s time at Saratoga, Kristina was his exercise rider, getting on him every morning and becoming one of the familiar faces in his daily routine.

Now, Pepper J is preparing for a new competition. And while his racing record follows him into this next chapter, so can the connections he made along the way.

That’s the idea behind Makeover Connections. There are hundreds of horses on this year’s entry list, each with their own network of people who knew them before their second careers began.

Could one of them be a horse you know?

Well… this one got us 😭

Smile n Wave, known on the track as Wave Warrior, is a Kentucky-bred son by Candy Ride out of Grade 1 winner Island Sand. He raced for Hall of Fame trainer Nick Zito before finding his way into eventing and, eventually, to Second Stride, where he was adopted in 2023.

This week, he and Jillian Rose Perry competed in the USEA Novice Amateur Championship at the 2026 USEA American Eventing Championships presented by Nutrena Feeds.

There are a lot of reasons we love getting to watch Thoroughbreds compete in their second careers, and being there to witness moments like these is one of our favorites.

War horse doing war horse things.

This week, Buck Davidson and Sorocaima added another top finish to the résumé, placing fifth in the $60,000 Adequan USEA Advanced Final at the 2026 USEA American Eventing Championships presented by Nutrena Feeds.
