This is a dry dry year for many, we are way drier than normal but we are lucky we got more moisture than many of the surrounding areas. Even with the rain my pasture is coming in slow and low. So like many other breeders I’m still stuck feeding hay at the end of May. I just put out an Alfalfa bale last night. It’s the best my hay supplier could find but on a normal year it would be hay I’d probably have passed by and he would have too. It’s older and dustier and not as leafy as the goats demand lol But due to so many needing hay it was what was available and I really appreciate having it so much! We’re expecting some rain and hail today. I hope we get a lot! At this point I don’t care how we get moisture hail, rain, mist, snow any of it all of it! All at the same time, whatever so long as it’s wet! Hopefully all you out there who need it get more moisture too!

Well it’s been exactly 5 months since that horrible wind storm in December that took my calf hut and used it for a battering ram to take out a fence and release Horizon. I found him the next morning romancing the yearlings and not just the yearling the yearling Nubians, the buck Horizon is of course a lamamcha, and two yearlings were obviously in heat both Faded Love and By By Love were in standing heat. They were old enough and I had lots going on so I was like ahh whatever. So here they are the continued aftermath of the worst wind storm I’ve seen here. But these at least are supper cut! Both does gave me twins a black and Swiss marked buckling and a chocolate Swiss marked doeling. I will register the doelings as experimental and their dams udders are quite lovely! Both will make amazing little milkers! With a strong Roman nose and little elf ears. lol I’m thinking names like Gale and Windy and Hurricane and twister. lol not breezy or something gentle. As they are the product of 70–80 mile an hour or better winds! lol This puts my count up to 25 lambs and 57 kids born here and 5 more does to go and one sheep. Three DOAs and 4 mild dystocia so far it has been a good kidding and lambing season and we’re almost done! Have some lovely doelings and bucklings looking for new homes. I’ll be posting them as I have a chance. But if you’re looking for something specific shoot me a message. I will have several milkers available as well.

This is Cranberry. She was dam raised and was pretty sure she wanted nothing to do with me. Then I started milking her as a ff and she has decided she loves me! She comes up to get pets as willingly as any bottle kid does. She also has adopted me as her kid and takes every opportunity to clean me up as any diligent mother would. I don’t need it…. I shower regularly. But I get cleaned anytime I’m bending down to pet a kid or check something out trim a hoof. Anytime I’m down where she can lick my face and hair and ears. Yuck! I come in with the most unusual hair dues thanks to her “cleaning” 😂. She also seems to know when I’m preoccupied I can’t stop her “cleaning.” I love this silly gal even the impromptu baths. Yes goat slime aplenty is the in look in my barn yard. !

Kidding season has been clicking along I still have kids coming through June. So far I’m at 33 doelings and 17 bucklings and 3 doas. 5 sets of triplets and one set of quads. Only two dystocias which was pretty straight forward to fix. Been busy but good kidding and more to come! I have some nice Nubian junior herd sire prospects and some polled Nubian doelings. Most all the kids were kept on their dams due to some unexpected personal issues this spring. So most will be dam raised. Kids are selling fast even with my very sporadic posting. If you have something you’re looking for contact me! I have some very exciting kids available! Both doelings and bucklings some very strong production Lamanchas and Nubians. Some potential show stock and have a few mature animals looking for homes as well.

Apparently this is the best toy ever! According to all these babies. I kept hearing clunking metal and took me a bit to figure it out. Turns out it’s tiny hooves playing on the little ledge and tapping on the tin. lol
