🐾 Meet Genevieve 🐾

Genevieve is a beautiful 1-year-old tabby who is spayed, up to date on vaccinations, and ready to find the right forever home.

When Genevieve first arrived, she was very quiet, cautious, and preferred to keep to herself. Over the past few weeks, we've gotten to know her better—and this weekend, after her feline roommate was adopted, we've started to see a new side of her personality.

Now that she has the room to herself, Genevieve spends her days exploring, watching the world from her sunny window perch, and proudly scattering just about every toy from the toy basket across the room. She has turned out to be much more playful, energetic, and curious than we first realized!

While her playful side is beginning to shine, Genevieve is still a cat who likes to take things at her own pace. She isn't looking to be pet or picked up right away, but she is becoming more curious about people. She'll cautiously come over to investigate an outstretched finger with her nose before deciding to take a raincheck on being pet.. but it's a start!

Because of her personality, we believe Genevieve would thrive in a calm home as the only pet, where she can continue building confidence without having to share her space. She has lived with children and other cats in the past, but we truly feel she would be happiest in a peaceful environment with an experienced cat owner who understands that trust is something earned—not rushed.

Genevieve may never be the cat who climbs into visitor's lap, and that's okay. She deserves someone who will love her for exactly who she is and allow her to choose affection on her own terms. After all, she's only one year old. Every day we're seeing more of her personality emerge, and we believe the right home will give her the opportunity to continue to blossom.

Meet Genevieve. 🐾

At just 1 year old, Genevieve is a beautiful tabby with her whole life ahead of her. She is spayed, up to date on vaccinations, and ready to find a patient family who will appreciate her for exactly who she is.

Genevieve is a quiet, independent girl who takes her time getting to know new people. She's the kind of cat who prefers a peaceful environment and will need someone willing to let her settle in at her own pace. Once she's comfortable, you'll often find her curled up in her cozy bed by the window soaking up the sunshine or relaxing in her favorite cat tower.

She enjoys playtime but is also very good at letting you know when she's had enough and needs a break.

Genevieve has previously lived with children and other cats, but we believe she would thrive as the only pet in a calm, quiet home where she can build confidence without competing for space or attention. Because of her personality, we're hoping to find an experienced cat owner who understands that some cats simply need a little extra patience, time, and love before they truly blossom.

UPDATE 7/31/26 !!! Oreo has been adopted!!!

🐾 Meet Oreo! 🖤🤍

This beautiful one-year-old tabby tuxedo is looking for a patient, loving family to call her own.

Oreo has the softest fur, a gorgeous coat, and the sweetest little face. She is spayed, up to date on her vaccinations, and ready to start the next chapter of her life. She has previously raised a litter of kittens, and now it's finally her turn to be the one who's cared for and loved.

Right now, Oreo is still a little shy and cautious here at the shelter, so we haven't seen her full personality quite yet. But every morning we walk into her room, we're greeted by toys scattered all over the floor from the basket we leave for her—proof that once the lights go out and she feels comfortable, her playful side comes out to shine!

According to her previous owner, Oreo loves being petted, enjoys curling up in laps, and has a playful personality. We truly believe she'll blossom into the loving, playful companion she's meant to be once she's settled into a quiet space that she can make her own.

Oreo has lived successfully with children and other cats, but she has never lived with dogs. She is also an indoor-only cat.

If you're willing to give a shy girl the time and patience she deserves, we think Oreo will reward you with a lifetime of love.

Come meet Oreo at the Animal Shelter of Martha's Vineyard, Tuesday through Saturday from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. We always recommend calling first to make sure she's still here before making the trip.

THANK YOU, Martha's Vineyard! ❤️🐾

Our annual Celebration of Pets that took place Saturday 7/25/26 was another wonderful success, and it's all because of this incredible community.

To everyone who joined us, brought your beloved pets, cheered on the Animal Parade, stopped to ask questions, visited with the animals, snapped photos, and spent part of your weekend celebrating the human-animal bond—thank you. Seeing so many familiar faces (and so many wagging tails!) is what makes this event so special year after year.

A very special thank you to the clergy for leading our beautiful Blessing of the Animals. This has become one of the most meaningful annual traditions, and we are so grateful for the time, kindness, and care that went into making it such a memorable moment for everyone in attendance.

Thank you to Jeremy Jones Dog Trainer and Karen Ogden of Positive Rewards for generously sharing their knowledge, answering questions, and leading engaging demonstrations and activities throughout the afternoon. Your dedication to helping both pets and their people is truly appreciated.

We'd also like to thank everyone who helped make the day so much fun—from our volunteers and supporters to the families who participated in the festivities. We loved seeing all of the wonderful animals who came to celebrate with us, including a sweet cat, an adorable guinea pig, an energetic puppy, an Ox, a horse, a miniature pony, and of course, more dogs than we could possibly count!

Whether you came for a hayride with Chilmark the Ox, enjoyed the children's activities, watched the Animal Parade, received a blessing for your pet, or simply spent the afternoon surrounded by fellow animal lovers, thank you for being part of such a special tradition.

Events like these remind us just how fortunate we are to be part of a community that loves and supports animals so wholeheartedly. We can't wait to do it all again next year! 🐾❤️

7/29/26 UPDATE! Lucky has found her new home and is going home tomorrow! Congratulations, Lucky!

🐾 Meet Lucky! 🖤

Lucky is an adorable 9-week-old, long-haired, all-black kitten who is officially ready to find her new home!

Like any kitten, Lucky is full of energy, curiosity, and fun. She loves to play and explore and is quite the climber!

Lucky will still need to be spayed and receive the remainder of her vaccinations as she gets a little older.
