TUESDAY TOPICS 📚✨

Here’s a situation for you:

You’re taking your dog to the vet. When you get there, your dog starts to whine & jumps on you.

What do you do next?

a.) Pet your dog
b.) Tell your dog “it’s okay”
c.) Both A & B
d.) Ignore the dog

If you answered A, B, or C — this one is for you.

This week, Mitch is touching on how quick us humans are to interject in a dog’s emotional state — and therefore accidentally reinforce behaviors we don’t love.

In the above scenario, by talking and petting the dog, you are accidentally encouraging your dog to continue that behavior and increase the anxiety. Instead, take away your own emotion, and help your dog go into a neutral state.

If you need extra help with this, we’re here to help 🤩

TUESDAY TOPICS 📚✨

Kelli is back, and on the same topic as last week — affection! But this time, we’re focusing in on affection in multi-dog households.

Affection is a resource worth fighting for in a dog’s perspective. So it’s important to have boundaries with your pups, and make sure you’re only petting one dog at a time, otherwise, you’ll create a situation where your dogs may start competing over YOU. And the more you let it happen, the more it builds. So instead, just keep it fair, and love on one pup at a time. 💗

Happy 3 Year Anniversary, Megan! 🥳🎉

We (as in K9 Heeling) celebrated her earlier this month, but now it’s time to share the celebration with all of you because she deserves ALL the love! 💛

If you’ve had any correspondence with K9 Heeling, chances are you’ve talked to Megan at some point! She’s our all-things-communication gal and one of the friendly faces you’ll find on the frontlines of K9 Heeling.

We’re so lucky to have someone who brings so much joy to work each and every day. Megan greets everyone with a smile, can find just about anything to spark up a conversation, and has a way of making people feel right at home.

Her favorite part of K9 Heeling is connecting with all of the people who walk through our doors and, of course, getting to cuddle all the puppies along the way. 🥰 So here’s to Year 4, Megan! We hope it brings even more meaningful connections, plenty of puppy cuddles, and an endless supply of Golden Retrievers. 🐕💛

We’re so happy you’re part of the K9 Fam! Happy Anniversary! 🎉
