MVMA member Dr. Kara Nelsen founded Allied Veterinary Emergency and Referral in 2021, with a mission strongly centered on prioritizing the team—believing that a well-cared for veterinary team provides the best care for patients.

MVMA staff recently had a chance to visit Allied's impressive Brooklyn Park location, a state-of-the-art, 27,000 square foot facility that is home to emergency, urgent, and referral care.

July 4th will be here before you know it, and a little preparation now can make a big difference for your anxious pet. 🎆🐾

A few things worth doing soon: if you use a calming diffuser, go ahead and plug it in so it has time to build up in your home before the big night. Think through your plan for keeping your pet comfortable and in a safe, quiet space. And if your pet has struggled with fireworks in the past, now is a great time to reach out to your family veterinarian to talk through whether a medicated approach might be right for them.

Happy National Trails Day! 🥾🐾 If you are hitting the trails with your pup this summer, here is a quick reminder on trail etiquette.

Keep your dog leashed at all times, even if they are friendly. Not every dog or hiker you encounter on trail feels the same way. A leash also helps protect your pet from unexpected wildlife encounters that can be dangerous for everyone involved. Stay on marked trails, clean up after your pet, and always bring plenty of water for both of you. Happy adventuring! 🌿
