🐾 DR. AIMEE WANTS EVERY ALABAMA DOG OWNER TO KNOW ABOUT BEAU’S LAW. 🐾

As a veterinarian, I believe every dog deserves the basics: food, clean water, proper shelter and a safe place to live. ❤️

As of October 1, Beau’s Law is now in effect across Alabama.

The new law establishes standards for dogs kept outside, including:

🐶 Continuous access to adequate food and clean water
🏠 Proper shelter from heat, cold and wet weather
🌳 Shade when needed
🐾 Enough room to stand, turn around, lie down and stretch
⛓️ Safer requirements for dogs that are tethered or chained
🚫 No choke or pinch collars for tethering
🚫 No heavy logging chains

Beau’s Law was inspired by Beau, a dog found outside in freezing conditions with little more than cardboard for shelter. His story helped bring attention to the need for clearer protections for Alabama dogs. 🐾❤️

Please SHARE THIS POST. Education matters, and there may be someone on your friends list who simply doesn’t know that Alabama’s laws have changed.

🐾 New in Alabama: Beau’s Law takes effect October 1, 2026!

The law establishes clearer standards for dogs kept outdoors, including safe tethering, proper shelter, clean food and continuous access to fresh water.

Please take time to understand the new requirements and make any necessary changes before October 1. Responsible care protects our pets and helps build safer, kinder communities. 🐶💙

💧 Is your pet drinking enough water?

Fresh, clean water should always be available. Contact your veterinarian if you notice your pet suddenly drinking much more or less than usual, as changes in thirst can sometimes signal an underlying health concern.

🇺🇸 As you celebrate this Independence Day, please remember that not everyone experiences fireworks the same way.

Many pets become frightened by the loud noises, and many veterans and others living with PTSD can find fireworks overwhelming.

A little kindness goes a long way:
🐾 Keep pets safely indoors and securely identified.
❤️ Be mindful of your neighbors before setting off fireworks.
🇺🇸 Celebrate responsibly so everyone can enjoy the holiday.

From all of us at Byrd Creek Veterinary Mobile Service, we wish you a safe, happy, and compassionate Fourth of July! 🎆

🐾 Leave Your Dog at Home During This Extreme Heat ☀️

If it’s too hot for your bare feet, it’s too hot for your dog’s paws.

Asphalt and concrete can become dangerously hot during Alabama’s summer temperatures, causing painful burns in just seconds. Even a short walk can lead to injuries.

Keep your pets safe by:
• Walking early in the morning or after sunset
• Testing pavement with the back of your hand for 7 seconds
• Providing plenty of fresh water and shade
• Leaving pets at home whenever possible during the hottest part of the day

A little extra caution can help keep your furry family members safe all summer long. ❤️🐶

🇺🇸🐾 Keep Your Pets Safe This 4th of July! 🐾🇺🇸

While we enjoy the fireworks, our pets may be frightened and stressed. A little preparation can help keep them safe this holiday.

❤️ 4th of July Pet Safety Tips:
• Keep pets indoors during fireworks.
• Make sure collars and ID tags are secure and microchip information is up to date.
• Create a quiet, comfortable space with a TV, fan, or calming music to help mask loud noises.
• Never take pets to fireworks displays.
• Keep barbecue foods, corn cobs, chocolate, onions, grapes, alcohol, and xylitol-containing treats out of reach.
• Avoid sparklers and fireworks around pets—they can cause serious burns and injuries.
• Watch for signs of anxiety such as pacing, panting, trembling, hiding, or trying to escape.

If your pet becomes injured, ingests something toxic, or escapes, seek veterinary care as soon as possible.

From all of us at Byrd Creek Veterinary Mobile Service, we wish you and your furry family a safe, happy, and tail-wagging Independence Day! 🇺🇸🐶🐱
