Dogs and bread… two of our favorite things. Dogs shaped like bread?! Yes please!😆

We couldn’t help ourselves and had to jump on this trend!

How does your dog spend most of its time: croissant, loaf, shrimp, baguette, or bun?

⚖️ALL RISE for the Honorable Judge Kenai!🐾

Halloween is just around the corner, and you know what that means… our ANNUAL HALLOWEEN COSTUME CONTEST is BACK! 🐶🎃

But this year, we’re shaking things up!

Instead of celebrating for just ONE day, we’re turning it into a WHOLE WEEK of Halloween fun! 🕸️

Whether your pup joins us Monday, Wednesday, or any day in between, send them dressed in their spookiest, funniest, cutest, or most outrageous Halloween costume!

📸 Here’s how it works:

At the end of the week, we’ll share photos of our costumed contestants for the ultimate Halloween showdown!

👍 The pup with the MOST LIKES on their photo WINS!

Voting will be closed November 1st!

So rally your friends, bribe your family (with candy, of course 🍬), and get those votes rolling!

🏆 The grand prize? A gift basket full of fabulous goodies fit for Halloween royalty!

Let the spooky shenanigans begin! 🐾🎃👻

The workplace scenery is pretty decent.

If “Monday” had a picture in the dictionary, this would be it.

We’re going to need a little more weekend.

🍂🍁🐾 Ace would like everyone to know that the leaves are NOT a mess. They’re his seasonal luxury bedding, and frankly, he’s offended you’d suggest otherwise. 🍂🍁🐾

Friends, falling leaves, and selfies. The only thing missing is a Starbucks pup-cup ☕️🍁

We gave the dogs the camera for a few minutes, and we think a few of them may have been practicing..

Have you ever seen a more perfectly timed photobomb than the last photo?! 😂

It was the greatest pleasure and honor to have known and helped train K9 Murphy. What a blessing he was to the Eau Claire community. He did his job perfectly, and we’re so proud to have been a part of his journey. Rest well sweetest boy. You were so loved and will be so missed. 🐾💔

Dear Friends,

If I could speak to you one last time, I’d tell you that I’ve had the best job in the world.

I was lucky enough to be part of something much bigger than myself. I got to be there for people on their hardest days, bring comfort when words weren’t enough, share a little happiness when it was needed most, and remind people that sometimes the simple act of sitting beside someone can make all the difference.

I never needed to know your story to offer you a paw, a nuzzle, or a little love. I didn’t care what kind of day you were having, what you were going through, or whether you had two legs or four. My job was simply to show up, be present, and let you know you weren’t alone.

And now, as cancer asks me to take my final walk, I hope you know just how much you’ve given me in return. Every smile, every gentle pat, every hug, and every kind word made my life richer than you could ever imagine.

I know my humans are going to miss me. I hope they remember that every life I touched was a little piece of my legacy, and that the love we shared doesn’t disappear just because I can no longer be there in person. Remember the wagging tail, the wet nose, the moments of comfort, and the unconditional love that made our time so special.

I’ve given you all the love my four paws could carry, and I’m taking with me all the love you’ve given back.

Thank you, for letting me be your Murphy.

With all my love and one final tail wag,

Murphy

🚧🐾 We’re Growing! 🐾🚧

There’s some BIG digging about to happen at Barks & Recreation—and no, it’s not the dogs this time! 😉

After years of dreaming and months of planning, we’re excited to share that construction on our boarding expansion officially begins Monday!

This is a huge milestone for us and one we’ve been looking forward to for a long time. As with any construction project, there may be a few temporary changes around our property over the next several months. You may notice construction equipment, slight adjustments to parking or traffic flow, and a little more activity than usual.

Rest assured, our commitment to providing exceptional care for your dogs won’t change. Our team has been planning carefully to ensure your experience—and your dog’s—remains as smooth as possible throughout the process.

This expansion is all about creating more opportunities to serve our amazing clients. Once complete, we’ll be able to welcome more boarding guests, provide additional accommodations, and continue growing while maintaining the level of care and enrichment you’ve come to expect from us.

Our goal is to have the new addition open before the end of the year, and we can’t wait to share updates as the project progresses.

Throughout construction, there may be some changes to DAYCARE schedules, but we will provide as much advance notice as possible!

All boarding reservations are locked in and good to go!

Thank you for your patience during construction and, more importantly, for trusting us with your dogs. Your support is what has made this growth possible, and we’re incredibly grateful to have you as part of the Barks & Recreation family.

Here’s to an exciting new chapter—we can’t wait to show you what’s ahead! ♥️🐾
