I’ve wrote this out and deleted it at least 50 times.
As many have noticed we have been off social media for the last month. Why you may ask to grieve and mourn the youngest of the pack, Nyx. On the morning of May 5th, I had received a phone call from my husband, while heading home from work saying Nyx was breathing extremely heavy and violently twitching. She was rushed to our vet where I met up with them. Our vet gave her a very small sedative dosage to enter a catheter into her, within 30 seconds of receiving the sedative she was passing. There wasn’t anything we or our vet could do, due to how much stress her body was under as we are unsure of how long it the seizure had lasted. That sounds awful but it was 6am, the dogs had been outside getting their last potty breaks in around midnight and everyone was acting normal then. We opt for an autopsy, but still waiting to hear back. Our vet doesn’t believe it’s something genetic but uncertain of what could’ve happened.
Nyx was a homegrown girl, out of Nayvee and Topaz. As Nyx matured she became this firey, independent soul that took on being Theory’s and Roos bestie and sidekick, both had taken her under their wing without skipping a beat when their OG bestie, Nyxs mom; Nayvee went to a new program. Nyx reminded us of her mom everyday in looks and temperament, we use to call her Nayvees twin. It took me an entire month to muster up the strength to clean out her kennel and take her name tag off, it still doesn’t feel real. I still catch myself calling for her name when I don’t see she’s made it inside. She was one of the sweetest, easy going, mellowest puppies I had the pleasure of raising and I’m extremely grateful and honored to have had that opportunity. I will miss her daily and look back on the memories we were fortunate enough to make with her.
I appreciate everyone’s patience with our slow responses in messages and emails!
