🍩Donut, a ~4 week old kitten, was surrendered to us today after being accidentally stepped on by his owner and brought to Allied (Emergency Vet). They were not in a position to afford critical care so they surrendered him to us.

He was immediately stabilized with IV fluids + pain medications. Radiographs showed no fractures, however, the veterinarian is concerned for shock and possible trauma to his brain. His blood sugar was dangerously low. He received injectable dextrose, karo syrup on his gums, and close monitoring of his blood sugar. His initial diagnostics and stabilization so far cost $800.

Though improving, little Donut is not out of the woods yet, and additional treatment and/or hospitalization may be necessary to save his life.

Our current concerns are whether or not he has sustained a traumatic brain injury, soft tissue injuries, or internal bleeding. He is being monitored closely at AEVS and will go directly into a loving foster home with experience caring for traumatic injuries.

We need your help to fund his care! Every dollar counts🩷🍩✨

Last night was pure ✨magic✨ for our beagles, to be surrounded by such a supportive and loving community was such a gift for them (and us!). We cannot thank enough for their incredible hospitality, and for donating gift cards for our raffle! Even stopped by!

Finding Eden Animal Rescue says it’s been a learning curve for those dogs to go from labs, straight into the arms of their fosters.

We have to shoutout Tines Down Thermal Drone Recovery, as we had a huge scare tonight. One of our rescued beagles slipped his collar in his foster home and bolted away – in the dark, in a remote area. We received an update immediately from his foster that this had happened, and she was in thick brush searching everywhere for him.

We immediately called Cole at Tines Down and he was ready to get out to the last known area to help us instantly.

Thankfully, the foster and her family were able to locate him and bring him back to safety just in time. Although we didn't end up needing Cole this time, it is SO nice knowing we have a thermal drone contact in an emergency, so we wanted to share here, too.

Tonight we are grateful that all of our foster cats and dogs are safe in their homes with their families💛, grateful for fast-acting fosters, and for Tines Down Thermal Drone Recovery for being available, even past 10pm!
