Reminders.... also, we need to sign new waivers for 2026! Please help remind me at your next lesson lol.
*Lessons are 45 minutes. This time can vary depending on if horse and rider are meeting daily goals; we may stop short of that or may go longer. This is up to the trainer's discretion.
*Your lesson time is your START WORK TIME. It is recommended to arrive 30 minutes PRIOR to your start time to be groomed, tacked up and warmed up.
-The only exception to this is the rider’s using Lisa’s horses. However, as time goes on, you will often be expected to arrive early to do these tasks so they aren’t included in lesson time.
-Riders under 8 on Lisa’s horse will generally have grooming time built into lessons as they aren’t generally able to physically ride for 45 minutes.
-Riders are encouraged to prepare their own horse for lessons. They are there to learn and should be able to do most tasks on their own (I understand they can’t always throw a saddle on, tighten it safely, etc). If they need to be taught these basics, please let me know and they will be covered.
*To paraphrase: Parents, do not get your child’s horse ready for them to ride.
*Horsemanship comes before any discipline work (discipline being your focus of riding, i.e. performance [showing classes on the rail] gaming, barrel racing, etc). Foundation/horsemanship skills will be solid before advancing on to specific work in your discipline of choice. There is no budging on this.
*Lesson cancellations will be charged a lesson fee. There are no reschedules for lessons without paying the missed lesson fee. You are given one “gimme” on this. Exceptions can be made for intense sickness (this is not a cold) and lame horses.
*No-Shows - If you no show I will assume you are broke down or dead on the side of the road. Please do not no-show me.
*Parent “participation”: Parents are welcome to interact during lessons as long as you are not coaching over me (if you can do it on your own, no need to be paying me), degrading your child, or in any other way creating an unpleasant atmosphere. Some minors actually ride better with their parents not in the arena. Feel free to bring a good book and enjoy your “time off” for the duration of our lesson.
