We wanted to sincerely thank everyone who prayed for all of the feral kitties and wildlife who had to endure the NJ blizzard last Sunday/Monday. Pictured below is our Carly who did make it through the snowstorm. Carly is 15 years old and she is seen hanging with our Loki, who is also 15 years old. If you support our mission of saving cat lives through spay and neuter and would like to make a monetary or food donation to help feed our colonies, please click on the link(s) below.

We are asking for every person who is reading this post to please stop and say a prayer for all of the feral kitties that will be enduring unbearable snow and blizzard like conditions in the next 24 hours. Please pray for their protection and for the safety of their caregivers who love them so much. We will be praying for the safety of you and your loved ones as well.

Posting from another site:

Please DO NOT go out and clear snow from the shelters or mess with their shelters during the storm. You will scare the cats that are inside, they will run out if you spook them. Please leave your shelters alone and steer clear of them. Let them stay warm and in their shelter peacefully.
Unless an entrance is completely blocked and human intervention is needed*

❄️ WINTER STORM PREP FOR OUTDOOR CATS ❄️
An ice storm is expected this weekend, and now is the time to prepare shelters for community cats.

If you’re helping outdoor cats, straw matters.
✅ Natural Wheat Straw is the best choice for outdoor shelters. It stays dry, provides insulation, and helps cats retain body heat during freezing temperatures.

🚫 Do NOT use hay, blankets, towels, or shredded paper — these materials absorb moisture, freeze, and can actually make cats colder.

Quick tips before the storm hits:
• Refresh shelters with dry Long Natural Wheat Straw
• Elevate shelters off the ground if possible
• Face openings away from wind
• Check shelters before temperatures drop

A little prep now can be lifesaving. Please share to help spread the word — winter weather is hardest on those with no way to escape it. 🐾

Hello on this cold and dreary day. We wanted to share our sweet rescue story to make you smile. This is Scooby, he was found living outside trying to survive and the neighbors were threatening to call an exterminator!!

He was taken to the clinic to be neutered only to learn he was already neutered. Scooby was not microchipped, and we suspect he was sadly dumped like so many cats are. Although, Scooby was a bit angry while being contained in a small area for assessment, he definitely was showing signs of being friendly. A volunteer fostered him for a couple of weeks to assess his true temperament and then found a forever home for this beautiful boy. Scooby’s 17 year old human just adores him and sends lots of updates.

It's not too late to get a good shelter together for the Winter. We still have a few months of cold weather on the way. Please try to provide a shelter(s) for your outdoor kitties.

Key Points:

Straw only!
Line with Reflectix or foam insulation.
NO blankets!
Face away from the wind (preferably toward the South).
Keep in a private area.
NEVER put food or water in the shelter!
You can try sprinkling cat nip at the front entrance or inside (2 holes are better than 1).

Before 2025 comes to an end, we would like to share a unique kitty we helped this year. Patches, was a senior feral kitty who became very ill. Based on her first picture below, one would think that Patches was too sick to be saved. However, our mission has always been to save lives, especially the feral kitties. Patches was trapped by her caretaker, and we took her to our vet to be medically assessed. To our surprise, Patches had mange! Wow, we were completely surprised by this diagnosis since mange in cats is quite rare in this area of the US. Patches stayed in our care for two months, was treated with Revolution and given a medical bath to remove some of her dead, flakey skin. While Patches was recovering with us, her caretaker discarded her shelter and bought her a new heated house for when she returned. See below (picture #2) of how Patches looks today.

Happy New Year!

Some very good tips below when providing shelter for the outside kitties.
STRAW only, not hay.
Cats must stay dry, so check that straw after the rain or snow and replace as needed.
If your cat is not using the shelter, try sprinkling some cat nip near the entrance and/or inside a little bit. NEVER put food or water inside the shelter and try to feed as far away from the shelter as possible.
We recommend TWO holes, for safety reasons.

Keeping your cats DRY is the most important step to keeping them warm this winter. 🔥

Provide whatever SHELTER you can - but trust if they are not choosing to use it, they’ve found a better spot. 😼

Your shelter doesn’t have to be large in size. A smaller shelter will retain heat better. And cats love little hidey spots anyway.

An easy way to enhance any shelter is to add STRAW. ✅

If you want to do a little extra, add foam INSULATION, bonus points if it has the foil to reflect their body heat back onto them.

Thank you for caring for all the community cats out there. 🐈

Tips to try if they aren't using your shelter:
• Try adding catnip to the shelter.
• Move food away from the shelter.
• Try a location farther away from humans.

URGENT:

Hello, we are in desperate need of a foster/foster to adopt for this handsome man, named Pepe. Sadly, this boy was stuffed into a kitten size carrier with his teddy bear, brought to a store and was advertised for free to anyone that would take him. A MEOW Inc volunteer did not want to see this beautiful boy thrown to the streets and offered to foster him. Of course he wasn't neutered, so we got the works for him. Pepe needs a room and window of his own so he can decompress. We are looking for an experienced cat person to help Pepe learn to trust again. We will provide all food, litter, toys, etc. If you can help Pepe or know someone who is willing to foster/adopt him, please comment below. Most important, please share!
