Meet Irene, our Lead Instructor for the Pony Club at Lake Oconee Equestrian.

Irene’s love for horses began at age 10 when she joined Pony Club with her first horse, Sahara. The encouragement she received and the strong foundation in riding and horsemanship during those early years shaped a lifelong passion for horses, and inspired her to provide that same encouraging foundation for the next generation.

After 20 years as an elementary educator and decades of teaching riders of all ages, Irene believes, “The world of horses, both in and out of the saddle, offers so much for us to learn.”

As a United States Pony Clubs Riding Center, Lake Oconee Equestrian makes Pony Club accessible to riders who don’t own a horse by providing approved lesson horses through the program. Irene is passionate about helping young riders build confidence, develop strong horsemanship skills, and discover a lifelong love of horses.
