Thank you for your interest in Ober-the-Top! Today, I raise Oberhasli dairy goats under my own herd name, Ober-the-Top, which I established in 2008.

Established in 2008, Ober-the-Top is a dairy goat herd in southern Wisconsin owned by Abby Ball, DVM that is dedicated to breeding show-quality American Oberhasli. I received my first Oberhasli when I was 12 as a 4-H and FFA project on my neighbor Kiki Brackett's farm under the Brackett's Sunburst herd name. I studied Animal Science and Dairy Science at the University of Wisconsin from 2012-2015, and I will be attending the University of Wisconsin School of Veterinary Medicine from 2015-2019. I plan to practice large animal veterinary medicine and specialize in small ruminants in the future. My herd is based off the best of Kiki's Brackett's Sunburst Farm. I strive to utilize the best Oberhasli genetics in order to produce offspring that improve upon previous generations and are competitive in the show ring. My herd is CAE and CL negative. All kids are removed from their dams at birth and raised on heat-treated colostrum, followed by pasteurized milk until weaning. I practice strict culling in order to keep my herd small, yet competitive. My herd is very small right now, being a college student, but I hope to expand my herd in the coming years. I bring my goats to about 3 or more shows a year, usually including the Wisconsin State Fair and ADGA National Show whenever its location is close. I also participate in Linear Appraisal and DHIR. For the first time, I am offering up 20 straws of Ober-Boerd T Vector with delivery to ADGA National Convention available for a small fee. I am asking 5/$225. Please PM me if interested- I would need to know by tomorrow, as that is when I will be transferring semen into the tank that is headed to convention. Can also ship if will not be in attendance at convention.

The kids I got from him this year were so fancy and correct with two doelings placing 2nd and 5th in the intermediate kid class at Nationals. His dam, Ober-Boerd T Vela, is a super elegant doe (my personal favorite from Kirt's herd) that was the 1st place 3-year-old at the 2025 ADGA National Show. His sire is Vanjust NRNR Smoked Kandie, a son of none other than the beautiful Vanjust DJ Kotton Kandie 93EEEE (2024 ADGA National Champion and Best Udder). I just love Vector and am excited to continue using him in my herd, and I would be thrilled to see what he can do for other herds.

Down to a lean, mean herd of nine heading into breeding season! This year brought some really hard cuts of some of the older does in my herd, but I believe these young does are some of my best goats yet and I'm looking forward to the future 🍂

This handsome dude got collected this past week thanks to Levi Campbell at CryoCaprine! I'm really excited to continue using Ober-Boerd T Vector in my herd this fall, as his kids were gorgeous this past year ♥️ Grateful to have the security of having his genetics frozen now!

Another Wisconsin State Fair Oberhasli Show in the books ✅️

This year I was lucky to have the GCH Junior Oberhasli with Ober-the-Top Hoot (2026 ADGA National Junior Champion)! 🎉

I also had the help of a wonderful friend/ photographer Kris, so I got updated pictures of the whole herd. Placings are listed under all the photos!

2026 ADGA Nationals in West Springfield, MA will be one I will never forget. Initially I had wrote off attending this year due to the distance, but boy am I glad I changed my mind.... here are the highlights:

⭐️First for the big highlight- I achieved one of my dreams of breeding a National Champion with Ober-the-Top Hoot! 🎉 This truly caught me off-guard. I knew I had some fancy kids this year, but never would have imagined winning the whole thing. What makes this even more special is that this was the largest Oberhasli national show to date (over 150+ junior does) and under highly regarded judges (Mark Baden and Anna Thompson-Hajdik). She is also a daughter of my heart goat, CH Ober-the-Top Lark. Hopefully this is just the beginning for my herd! I cannot thank Becky Posusta Fidder enough for showing her off amazingly and to her full potential.

⭐️Ober-the-Top Jade stood 2nd in the intermediate kid class behind Hoot. She was in consideration for Reserve National Champion. Also in the intermediate kid class, Ober-the-Top Veil stood 5th (thank you Maggie Metzen for showing her beautifully). This is really special because these are my first kids out of my herd sire Ober-Boerd T Vector, who I have such great hopes for and plan on using heavily in my herd in the years to come. Thank you Kirt Schnipke for the chance to own this special buck!

⭐️Hoot's littermate sister Ober-the-Top Loon placed 16th in the intermediate kid class. Thank you to Melissa Puetz for handling her. I'm proud to sat that all 4 of my intermediate kids made the cut, and three were in the top 5! There were 30 kids in this class.

⭐️Ober-the-Top Raven placed 4th in a large class of 37 senior yearlings! Ober-the-Top Gem also made the cut and placed 17th in that class.

⭐️ 1st place Junior Get of Sire from Autumn-Acres GT Gravity, a buck I have used the last couple years through AI! Ober-the-Top Hoot, Ober-the-Top Loon, and Ober-the-Top Gem were part of this group.

⭐️ 2nd place Best Three Junior Does with Ober-the-Top Hoot, Ober-the-Top Jade, and Ober-the-Top Raven!

⭐️ My senior does did not fill the best on show day, but all made the cut! CH Dreamy Sunset OBD Pearl was the 12th place 4-year-old milker, CH Brackett's Sunburst Prima Dona was the 14th place 3-year-old milker, and CH (pending) Ober-Boerd T Vanna was the 13th place 2-year-old milker.

⭐️Above all the wins/ placings, I need to thank my fiancé Karl Ketterhagen for his endless help and support of my goat hobby. You do so much of the behind-the-scenes/ non-glamorous work at home, and I cannot tell you how much I appreciate that. You were not only selfless enough to make the 16.5 hour trek out to Massachusetts with me to make sure I made it there safely, but you also canceled your flight home mid-week to drive home with me and ensure we made it home in the dangerous heat wave. Thank you also for trailering animals to and from the ring and just being supportive of my crazy hobby. It means the world to me that you were there this week, especially to witness my big win 💓

⭐️Thank you to the Puetz family, Becky, and Adam for your friendship this week, and congratulations to you guys on your successes as well!

⭐️And finally, THANK YOU to everyone that reached out and congratulated me on my win. It brought me to tears multiple times just to experience how happy people were for me and the kindness from fellow breeders (many that I look up to immensely).

Had a great show at the Tri-State Classic in West Salem, WI yesterday to kick off show season!

I have a new pending champion in the barn! Ober-Boerd T Vanna took GCH in all 3 rings to finish her championship her first weekend out as a 2-year-old first freshener!

CH Dreamy Sunset OBD Pearl took BOB under Morgan Allen. Both Morgan and Garrett commented that it was one of the best Oberhasli Champion Challenge classes that they had judged in awhile, which was humbling to hear given that three of the four animals in the class were mine. Shout out to Becky Posusta Fidder for her gorgeous doe Perzia that took BOB in the other 2 rings.

And then to top off the day, I took a group of March doelings just to get them some experience off the farm and with handling, and they far exceeded my expectations. Ober-the-Top Loon took GCH under Morgan Allen and Ober-the-Top Jade took GCH under C**t Churchill. My other two doelings Ober-the-Top Hoot and Ober-the-Top Opal consistently stood at the top of their class with their herdmates.
