Ober-the-Top Dairy Goats

Ober-the-Top Dairy Goats Thank you for your interest in Ober-the-Top! Today, I raise Oberhasli dairy goats under my own herd name, Ober-the-Top, which I established in 2008.

Established in 2008, Ober-the-Top is a dairy goat herd in southern Wisconsin owned by Abby Ball, DVM that is dedicated to breeding show-quality American Oberhasli. I received my first Oberhasli when I was 12 as a 4-H and FFA project on my neighbor Kiki Brackett's farm under the Brackett's Sunburst herd name. I studied Animal Science and Dairy Science at the University of Wisconsin from 2012-2015,

and I will be attending the University of Wisconsin School of Veterinary Medicine from 2015-2019. I plan to practice large animal veterinary medicine and specialize in small ruminants in the future. My herd is based off the best of Kiki's Brackett's Sunburst Farm. I strive to utilize the best Oberhasli genetics in order to produce offspring that improve upon previous generations and are competitive in the show ring. My herd is CAE and CL negative. All kids are removed from their dams at birth and raised on heat-treated colostrum, followed by pasteurized milk until weaning. I practice strict culling in order to keep my herd small, yet competitive. My herd is very small right now, being a college student, but I hope to expand my herd in the coming years. I bring my goats to about 3 or more shows a year, usually including the Wisconsin State Fair and ADGA National Show whenever its location is close. I also participate in Linear Appraisal and DHIR. I encourage you to add an Ober-the-Top animal to your breeding program!

Had a great show at the Tri-State Classic in West Salem, WI yesterday to kick off show season!

I have a new pending champion in the barn! Ober-Boerd T Vanna took GCH in all 3 rings to finish her championship her first weekend out as a 2-year-old first freshener!

CH Dreamy Sunset OBD Pearl took BOB under Morgan Allen. Both Morgan and Garrett commented that it was one of the best Oberhasli Champion Challenge classes that they had judged in awhile, which was humbling to hear given that three of the four animals in the class were mine. Shout out to Becky Posusta Fidder for her gorgeous doe Perzia that took BOB in the other 2 rings.

And then to top off the day, I took a group of March doelings just to get them some experience off the farm and with handling, and they far exceeded my expectations. Ober-the-Top Loon took GCH under Morgan Allen and Ober-the-Top Jade took GCH under C**t Churchill. My other two doelings Ober-the-Top Hoot and Ober-the-Top Opal consistently stood at the top of their class with their herdmates.

Thanks to Helayna Nerby and the rest of the show committee for all your hard work in putting on a smooth show! Huge thank you to Kris for all your help at the show! I value your friendship so much ❀️ And thank you Lyndsay Burmesch for helping me get pictures!

I have a rare doe kid available- Ober-the-Top Veil!

Veil's dam and sire are both from the well-known Ober-Boerd "V-line"! Her dam Ober-Boerd T Vanna is a first freshening two-year-old in my herd that freshened with a very promising udder. She was the 1st place Junior Yearling at the 2025 ADGA National Show, as well as the Oberhasli Breeders of America All-American Junior Yearling. Her sire is Ober-Boerd T Vector, my fancy yearling buck who sired a beautiful kid crop for me this year. Vector is a son of CH Ober-Boerd T Vela, the 1st place 3-year-old at the 2025 ADGA National Show. His sire *B Vanjust NRNR Smoked Kandie is a son of GCH Vanjust DJ Kotton Kandie 93EEEE, the 2024 ADGA National Champion/ Best Udder.

This doe is sweet as pie and so easy to show and set up. I'm sad to list her for sale, but I had my first true "doe year", and I simply can't keep them all. I'm asking $750 for her. Located in southern Wisconsin. I will be attending the Tri-State Classic this weekend in West Salem, WI, as well as the Badger State Classic in Beaver Dam, WI next weekend and can bring her to either. I also plan on attending ADGA Nationals, so I can deliver her along this route. Please PM with any interest!

I have a really outstanding buckling to offer for sale this year: Ober-the-Top Iconic. It took me a minute to convince myself not to retain this guy, so don't give me time to overthink things πŸ™ˆ Iconic was born March 28th and was a single 11lb buckling. He's very leggy, tall, long-bodied, and growthy for his age. He walks with so much width and escutcheon height and has a very solid/ wide chest floor.
He is the result of an AI breeding to *B Ober-Boerd King's Landing. King's Landing's dam GCH Ober-Boerd Kiss Me, Kate 2*M (pictured) is a doe I have long admired for her style, length of body, and levelness/ flatness of rump, combined with a well-attached mammary. King's Landing's sire is none other than Ober-Ridge Gatsby's Arrogance, the 2025 ADGA National Premier Sire and 1st place Get of Sire.
Iconic's dam is my most stylish doe, CH Brackett's Sunburst Prima Dona (pictured). Prima Dona finished her permanent championship last year as a first freshening two-year-old. At the 2024 ADGA National Show, she was the 7th place senior yearling in an incredibly deep and competitive class. At the 2025 ADGA National Show, she was the 5th place 2-year-old. She is looking even better this year with another freshening!
Iconic is located in southern Wisconsin. Please PM for any interest. I am asking $700 for him.

Three new kids on the block! Buck/ doe twins for first freshener Ober-Boerd T Vanna x Ober-Boerd T Vector. And a single huge 11lb buck for CH Brackett's Sunburst Prima Dona x Ober-Boerd King's Landing (AI). Everyone is doing well despite some large kids!

This brings this year's kid count to 5 does and 2 bucks so far. Just one doe left to kid this week!

The first kids have arrived! Twin AI DOES from CH Ober-the-Top Lark and Autumn-Acres GT Gravity were born on Sunday πŸŽ‰

These two beauties made the stress of Lark's month of pregnancy all worth it. I have not been very public about it because I was unsure what the outcome would be, but Lark had a severe stifle injury a month ago that ultimately led to her developing pregnancy toxemia. I was determined to do everything I could to make her comfortable and save her, as she is so special to me. She was "hospitalized" in the barn with a catheter in for the last week of her pregnancy and induced a week early. There were so many unknowns about the kids, labor, and how she would bounce back after kidding given her state and injury. I waited a few days to post, but her doelings are thriving, and she appears to be on the up and up (knock on wood). This could not have had a better outcome and made all the stress and tears worth it. Welcome to the world, Loon and Hoot. Your momma is a warrior.
