Founded in 2004, Gateway Pet Guardians (GPG) is a 501(c)3 animal welfare organization leading the industry by investing in people and communities to end the cycle of animal homelessness. By building capacity for animal advocates in our own neighborhood, we increase animal well-being across the East Side Pet District - East St. With help from generous people like you, GPG is able to provide affordable, accessible, quality pet resources and champion a thriving pet welfare community.

NEXT Saturday, September 12th, from 9am-11am, we're having our next drive-thru clinic. No appointment. No exam. Just drive up! The first 100 pets will be seen, so we recommend arriving early.

Protect your pets with affordable preventive care:
💉 Rabies & Distemper vaccines (cats and dogs) — $30 each
📍 Microchips — $15
🦟 Flea prevention — $10

To help keep everyone safe:
🐶 Dogs must remain on a leash and inside your vehicle until instructed.
🐱 Cats must stay in secure carriers at all times.
Our Drive-Thru Vaccine Clinic is open to both Missouri and Illinois residents—no ZIP code restrictions!

Do you put on your favorite jazz record, make a martini, and relax in your lounge chair after a long day at work? 🍸

Okay, maybe not EVERY evening, but it sounds nice, doesn’t it? Well keep reading because these dogs have EXTRA CHILL and are ready to join you. 😎

Saheli, Baby Love, Coachella, Brewster, and Gypsy show us that relaxing is their thing, and the busy, noisy shelter is clashing with their lowkey lifestyle. 🧘‍♀️

Leaving for work? They’ll be fine, just give them a bed (or couch) and maybe a little chew bone, cause they’re about to catch a long nap.

Want to open the door and let your pup outside to do their business in the backyard? These dogs prefer it that way, cause running around in this heat? No thank you.

To all my chill, cool people out there - the true introverts, the pensive types…these dogs are mellow in the best way and they like how you play. 🎺

📢 Gateway Pet Guardians is hiring a Part-Time Pet Placement Specialist. 📢

Join one of the leading animal welfare organizations in the United States! This position requires an outgoing, people-oriented person with strong animal handling skills.

A good candidate will:

Work closely with Adoption and Foster Manager, Placement Specialist, Cat Coordinator & other departments to identify and implement foster and adopter recruitment to drive traffic to walk-in adoption and foster hours.

Assist the Cat Placement Coordinator by knowing our cats and support matching them to homes.

Assist with onboarding, training and managing of foster parents AND MUCH MORE!

We need a person who can work part-time Thursday, Fridays, and Saturdays.

We're going back to school and the shelter dogs are ready!
