Founded in 2004, Gateway Pet Guardians (GPG) is a 501(c)3 animal welfare organization leading the industry by investing in people and communities to end the cycle of animal homelessness. By building capacity for animal advocates in our own neighborhood, we increase animal well-being across the East Side Pet District - East St. With help from generous people like you, GPG is able to provide affordable, accessible, quality pet resources and champion a thriving pet welfare community.

WAIVED ADOPTION FEES FOR JUNE! 📢

All dogs 6 months and older weighing over 30 pounds have their adoption fees waived through June…….and that means Ming is FREE to adopt!

Ming was recently returned due to her previous owners' housing situation. She has the softest fur, tons of energy, loves playing with other dogs, and would make an amazing family companion. She’s only 10 months old and is a Border Collie/Husky.

Join us at Gateway Pet Guardians for a fun and budget-friendly Sidewalk Sale on Saturday, June 13th from 11am-1pm!

We'll have both pet items and people items available for sale. Everything is first come, first serve — so come early for the best finds! We accept cash, debit, and credit cards. 💳

Also, our Pet Retail Store will be open during the sale, so you can shop even more goodies inside!

It's National Donut Day and we've got someone who you do-not want to miss - Meet Alan! 🍩

Alan is a sweet boy with a confident, easygoing personality. He loves going on adventures and playing with doggy friends.

Alan has been at the shelter for 50 days 🥺 so we've gotten to know his personality pretty well. We asked shelter staff "If Alan were a donut what kind would he be?"

The answer: a sprinkle donut!🍩

If you’re looking for a companion with a sweet nature and laid-back charm, Alan could be your perfect match.

For National Hug Your Cat Day, we did our usual sweet lil video.

We have so many cats ready to receive lifelong hugs and snuggles…that’s the truth.

Fill out an app ➡️www.gatewaypets.org/adopt/cats and come to our Kitten Shower this Saturday June 6, 12 – 2 PM to get your kitten cuddles in.

We also asked staff to share their pics of hugging cats…results are mixed, like a dog snuck in there…and some cats are not fans.🤷‍♀️

Come one, come all....our next drive-thru clinic is THIS Saturday June 6, 9 - 11 AM. 🚗

Distemper and rabies vaccines for cats and dogs are $30 per shot. 💉

Gateway's drive-thru clinic also includes $15 microchips and $10 flea prevention. 🦟

No exam necessary just drive on up. 🚘 First 100 pets will be seen. 💯

The vaccine clinic is 9 - 11 AM - we recommend you get there early. ⏰

Please keep all dogs on leash and contained in the car and cats in carriers at ALL times.🐕‍🦺🐈

Gateway's drive-thru clinic is open to Missouri and Illinois residents, no zip code restrictions!
