Given the inability for individuals to receive food assistance during the shutdown, we are grateful for any donations to our food sharing farm stand in support of the community.

In the last several weeks we have had a couple instances of theft and vandalism near the farm stand. Please remember that while the items on the farm stand are available to those who need them, the rest of the items on our property are not for the taking. One of our chickens was taken and butchered right outside the coop, batteries have been stolen off our trailer and last night someone dumped trash and beer cans all around the farm stand, not even using the trash can we have made available.

I love my cast iron skillets!

The way I like to clean my cast iron skillet—no soap, just a little oil (I usually use olive oil) and some salt. Pop it in the oven for 5–10 minutes, then wipe it down with a clean dish rag or paper towels. Works great for me! I’ll repeat if there’s still residue.
