Many of you are asking about the tornado that went through Adair County. It destroyed the farm including the house Paul and Abbey and their boys lived in as well as all farm buildings. By the Grace of God, they are alive with some minor injuries. Abbey suffered the worst with four compression fractures in her lower back. We lost some equipment and most sadly many cows and calves were killed or needed to be put down. Thankful we had four amazing vets from Adair county vet, Creston vet and Indianola vet who worked all day Wednesday trying to sew up and save those that they could. We have some that died today and others who still won’t make it. So many cattlemen have come to our aide and have taken some to their places to watch over and daily medicate. We continue to bring home bottle calves. After today we will have four or five. We are thankful for our family, our friends and the outpouring of community support. The governor, secretary of agriculture and congressmen have been at the farm (or what was the almost century farm), along with channel 5 news and Progressive Farmer Magazine. We so appreciate Earlham School district, the I35 school district, the I35 FFA, Agrivision, Union State Bank Winterset, Stivers Ford, Beef Producers, Pork Producers, the vets, friends and family, neighbors and so many more I am sure I am missing! The sun has come out and we are moving forward to the next chapter! Thank you all for your continued prayers.
