After experiencing some mild dehydration with the onset of the hotter weather I knew I needed to make my fresh batch of horsetail tincture. I made this for the first time the summer of 2023 when I was perpetually just thirsty no matter how much spring water I was drinking (the whole spring water hydration vs tap (even though it’s still well water here) is a whole separate conversation) made me curious about horsetail. Simply put the silica provided by this prehistoric plant helps your body to actually absorb the water you are consuming to aid the body with hydration. I took the tincture daily until giving the final bit away to a friend who broke their arm last July. This will need to sit in the cabinet for 4-6 weeks (shaken daily for the first 2) before it is officially ready.

I don’t drink alcohol so when I ended up at the store last night after driving 250 miles yesterday I was just staring at the selection illuminated by the fluorescent lighting. I got organic USA corn vodka the first round but ultimately opted to go local this time with

This tincture will be available on the website and ready to ship mid to end of July.

No trending audio, just “Madison”, my 2004 Toyota Sequoia (daily driver of ~100 miles/day) resting at the river right after we reached the 300,000 milestone today, June 8, 2026; I bought her on June 12, 2021 at 171,874. I routinely say it’s the best $3,500 I ever spent, and have been looking for another for over a year so she can take a bit of a break. I could go on and on about how she’s more than just a car to me, but I’ll save that for the longer reel sharing everything we did to celebrate on our route today.

One of the most critical things I did with my main flock, was bonding with them and building rapport with mealworms, calling chick, chick chick to make sure they came when called and actually had a reward to do so. My hens being confident and comfortable with me as a friend also helps to maintain my status with my rooster as a partner rather than a predator. He is a very good boy to his girls, with me, the dogs and ducks, which I’m so grateful for.

Not at all sponsored, just wanted to share this fun bonding moment from this morning.

What a wonderful day at ! Thank you for hosting the third annual Canine Carnival to support ! We had this wonderful pavilion to hang out in due to the uncertain whether, but it ended up being gorgeous. We did have a little bit of rain for about 20 minutes, but other than that, perfect weather, and my opinion! So proud of this boy, his very first outing since I got him and he was so good. Blown away. He was so happy to be there and is exhausted now. Thank you to everyone who came out today!

I remain undecided about my handle, do I change it after over a decade to fit this evolution, or keep the only name this account has ever had, the start of the journey? This is ember_the_berner , since January 2016..before dog accounts were much of anything but silly, but I wanted a diary of us. Now I’m here with Ember’s Acres and no Ember, but it’s because of and for Ember that I am here.
