Sometimes the craziest things happen!
Years ago, (maybe 20!) a woman adopted a horse from us. Her name was SBR Sophie. Sophie was being used in a lesson program and everyone loved her! What no one knew, was that Sophie came to us, pregnant and after she arrived at her new home, surprise! π³ She gave birth. π₯° They kept the baby and eventually used her in their lesson program as well.
Fast forward to last month. The same women comes back to SBR to adopt another horse for her lesson program in Florida. She chooses SBR April's Star. For those of you who remember April's Star, she was a mare that came in very thin, and sick with strangles. We had to keep her in quarantine for longer than anticipated to get her well. She healed, put on weight and a few weeks ago, headed down to her new home in Florida.
Well, as they say, history often repeats itself, and soon after she settled in, April's Star gave birth to a healthy foal! Surprise! π³π³
We only know of two times that SBR had a horse here who was pregnant and we didn't know it. And both times, those horses were adopted by the same person! Crazy, right? π€ͺMama and baby are both doing wonderfully.
It just goes to show that when you save a horse, it is more than just one life saved. That one horse can make a difference in so many lives. Both human, and horse!
