🌟 Meet Emily, one of our amazing technicians (and so much more!) 🌟
Emily is one of the many friendly faces here at the clinic. Her favorite thing about working here is the variety of surgeries and patients she gets to help with each day, along with all her awesome friends on staff! It's no wonder she's so great at what she does, with a passion for both the job and the team.
If you want to make her day, just bring in a pig or a goatβ€”she can't get enough of them! 🐷🐐 At home, her family includes her husband, her sweet dog, and her three wonderful kitties. We're so lucky to have her!

πŸŽ† Don't Wait Until the First "BOOM!" πŸŽ‡

The 4th of July is just a few weeks away, which means the fireworks are coming. While we love a good celebration, our pets usually don't share the enthusiasm. 🐢🐱If your furry family member struggles with severe noise anxiety, shaking, panting, or hiding during the festivities, NOW is the time to plan ahead.

⚠️ Important Medication Reminders:
Exam Requirements: Law requires us to have examined your pet within the last 12 months to legally dispense prescription medication. If they are overdue, we need to get you on the schedule before our appointment slots fill up!
Processing Time: Please allow at least 24 hours for our team to process, approve, and fill prescription refills.
Test Runs: It is always a good idea to test the medication before the holiday so we can safely adjust the dosage if needed.

πŸ‘‰ What to do next: Give us a call at 330-871-8013 or check out our online booking (https://us.vetstoria.com/booking/68cda93b636de?r=8&rwg_token=AFd1xnERL5u_az3EZqHlt-84TTcHj10DiUP4jKXJOfChFn9H4Mit8JoV5IXrPjTLNJ1SCA1VCZOohc4RIRzZbaBLkwlIXsUhwA%3D%3D&step=2)
Let's work together to keep your pets safe, calm, and comfortable this Independence Day! β€οΈπŸ€πŸ’™

🐾 Don't Ignore a Empty Bowl! 🐾
If your pet stops eating, it’s often their only way of telling you something is wrong. While they might just be picky, a loss of appetite is a major red flag for pain, dental issues, or illness.
The Golden Rules:
The 24-Hour Mark: If your adult pet refuses food for a full day, call the vet.
Don't Wait for Kittens/Puppies: Small animals can weaken dangerously fast; call sooner.
Watch for Cats: Cats can develop serious liver issues (hepatic lipidosis) if they go even a few days without eating.
Check for Symptoms: If they are also lethargic, vomiting, or hiding, treat it as an emergency.
Bottom line: You know your pet best. If their behavior changes, trust your gut and call us. Early intervention saves lives!

🌟 Meet Abby, one of our fantastic RVTs! 🌟
Abby loves the dynamic nature of her job, and her favorite thing about working here is the variety of animals she gets to see every day, as well as her wonderful coworkers. While she enjoys all her patients, she has a real soft spot for our equine and donkey friends. 🐴
At home, Abby's heart is full with her husband, dog and cat. Her passion for animals, both big and small, truly makes her an invaluable part of our Red Star team!

🚨 EMERGENCY: Act Fast When Colic Strikes! 🚨
Colic is the most common emergency in horses, and some can be life-threatening. The term "colic" simply means abdominal pain, but the underlying cause can range from a simple gas buildup to a twisted intestine requiring immediate surgery. The sooner your horse gets care, the better their chance of recovery. Don't wait!
⚠️ Key Signs to Watch For:
Pawing at the ground
Looking at or biting their flanks (sides)
Restlessness (getting up and down repeatedly)
Rolling (especially violently)
Not eating or drinking
Sweating at unusual times
No manure production
🩺 Why Speed Matters:
Mild cases (gas or simple impaction) usually respond well to quick medical treatment.
Severe cases (like a twisted gut) need emergency surgery immediately. Every hour counts to save the horse's life.
⏳ While You Wait for the Vet:
Remove all food (hay and grain).
Walk your horse quietly if they are rolling violently to prevent injury, but don't exhaust them. If they are resting comfortably, let them.
Keep calm and have information ready: signs you see, last manure production, heart rate, etc.
If you suspect colic, call us RIGHT AWAY!
