Hi! I'm Jessica 🥰

- certified dog trainer, dog mommy, and human mommy -

I've been a certified dog trainer for over 10 years and previously managed a kennel for 8+ years. After my son was born (he's 3.5 now😍), I stepped away from the kennel industry and shifted my focus back to what I love most - working one-on-one with families and their dogs!

I have two dogs of my own, a Schnauzer/Dachshund mix named Jaxon and a American Pitbull mix named Denali. So I totally understand the chaos with training in a busy household.

I'm VERY passionate about dog and kid safety and have started steering my focus on that lately. Creating a clam, safe, respectful relationship between dogs and children are something I care deeply about.

My goal is always practical training that works in every day life .. customizing training to each families lifestyle .. and helping families set up lifetime happiness between them and their dog(s)

Let’s talk about puppy play! Not everyone is familiar with socializing dogs & seeing them actually play. While socializing isn’t always physical interactions , for dogs who do enjoy playing together .. let’s talk about what’s okay and what’s not !

Dogs play with their mouths. While it looks bad, it isn’t always bad. They’re not biting down to take a bite. They’re biting and releasing. I wouldn’t throw your fingers in there 😂 but it’s totally normal for the snarls to come out while they’re chomping on! You’ll see in a few reels the growling / barking / snarling

The dogs in the video are mine. This is from 7-8 years ago , Jaxon (tan fellow) Harley (brindle girl) and the white dog was our family dog Max.

Speaking of Max. You’ll also see in the reels how some anxiety is released on a dog who didn’t develop proper social skills & doesn’t know how to release his energy / frustration. While every dog is different , these are some common signs of anxiety / frustration!

Puppy play is very overwhelming for someone who doesn’t see it often & can look super scary.

There is a term called “snapping” which is when a dog doesn’t like something and they will ‘snap’ or ‘correct’ it would be a quick motion with no physical contact. That’s your dog saying “hey, I don’t like that, please stop” and we let that happen. It protects your dog from speaking up for themselves and gives them the voice we want them to have. When stripping that right away , they end up not knowing how to communicate.

You see in the clips the dogs are on top of each other , but in the very beginning I touch Jax and he immediately stops playing and steps off of her. He’s relaxed , respectful & learned it’s time to stop!

Puppy play can be great when monitored properly and knowing what’s okay and what’s not. These clips are all proper puppy play with dogs who are socialized well with each other

*note: these dogs were 1 & 2 years old at the time and they’re now almost 8 and almost 9. They don’t play like they used to, but they still live together and adore each other 🤍*

Multi dog family vs meal time ..

How’s your set up?!

Did you know one of these 3 dogs is food aggressive?? Only selective humans can touch his food while he eats AND he will snap if a dog comes near him. Yet he allows my toddler to place his bowl down & allows people to/ animals to walk past time.

In our home we feed together , but separate corners of our kitchen. Each dog has been trained to their corners and that’s where they eat their breakfast & dinner!

Each dog also knows they’re not allowed to touch the other’s food. But once everyone is done eating , they like to lick each others bowls clean 😝

Tell me how you do your feedings in a multiple dog house??
