🍂🐾 The holiday season is approaching FAST! 🎄❤️

The holidays are some of our busiest times of the year, and many of our boarding spots are already booked! If you know your family will need boarding over Thanksgiving or Christmas, now is the time to get your reservations made. 🐶🏡

As always, we do our best to leave a few last-minute availability spots for our current FSH families, but those are limited and never guaranteed. Please don't wait until the last minute if you already know your plans! ❤️

🎁 A quick reminder about holiday hours!

We will absolutely be here caring for all the pups staying with us over the holidays! However, we will not be allowing drop-offs, pick-ups, or visitors onto the property on Thanksgiving Day, Christmas Eve, or Christmas Day.

Please plan your reservations and travel arrangements accordingly, and thank you for helping us protect a little family time during the holidays!

We absolutely love giving walkthroughs and showing you everything Free Spirit Hounds has to offer! But if you schedule a walkthrough and can no longer make it, please let us know.

We plan our days around these appointments to keep the dogs settled and comfortable, which often means pushing dinner back and rearranging family time. We’re a young family building our dream, and the little bit of time we get to spend together outside of work is precious to us. 🐾💛

We’re always happy to welcome you in and share what we’ve built, but a quick message when plans change goes a long way. Thank you for respecting our time and helping us balance the business we love with the family we love just as much. ❤️

🐾💛 Let’s talk about waiting to spay and neuter!

As breeders ourselves, we understand the importance of allowing dogs to mature physically and hormonally before spaying or neutering. Every dog is different, and we know these decisions are often made with their long-term health and development in mind. ❤️

But that brings up a pretty common question: What happens when a girl in daycare comes into season? 🐶🌸

At FSH, we’ve planned for this! We’re able to completely separate our boys and girls while still allowing dogs to enjoy their day, with some thoughtful modifications to our usual playgroups.

Of course, every situation is evaluated individually, and safety always comes first. We adjust groupings and routines as needed to keep everyone comfortable, happy, and safe. 🐾

We believe responsible dog care means understanding that not every dog follows the same timeline. Whether it’s accommodating a dog’s development, personality, or individual needs, we’re always looking for ways to make daycare work while putting the well-being of every dog first. 💛

🐾 A lot of thought goes into a good day at FSH, long before the first tail starts wagging. 💛

Most mornings, around 6 AM, you can find us sitting down with our schedules, looking at which dogs are coming in, who’s spending the day with us, and which combinations will give everyone the best chance at a successful day.

Grouping dogs isn’t as simple as putting a bunch of dogs together and letting them play. ❤️
Personalities, play styles, comfort levels, energy, relationships, and individual needs all matter.

Some dogs become wonderful, reliable companions through time, consistency, and carefully built relationships. Those friendships don’t happen overnight, and maintaining them takes ongoing thought and work.

There’s also a side of what we do that you don’t see as often on social media. Some groups need more hands, closer supervision, training, and redirection. Those moments aren’t always the ones we can pull out a camera for, because our attention belongs exactly where it needs to be: on the dogs. 🐶

Our hope is that, with time and consistent work, more of those dogs can enjoy even a small, comfortable, dependable group of their own. Progress looks different for every dog, and we celebrate those little victories just as much as the big, happy playgroup moments you see here!

Our goal isn’t to make every dog fit into the same mold. It’s to help each dog have the best, safest, and most positive day possible, while respecting who they are and what they need.

And most days, that work starts before the sun even comes up. 🌅🐾

Because a good day for your dog starts with a plan, not just a play yard. 💛
